MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama had a strong showing on the track today, as the men's team took first place with 156 points in the University of Mobile Invitational held at Jaguar Track.
The meet was the third time for the Jaguars competing at their home track this season.
Other select Jags traveled to Oxford, Miss., to participate in the Joe Walker Invitational, hosted by Ole Miss.
JOE WALKER INVITATIONAL
South Alabama sent six distance runners to the Joe Walker Invitational.
Starlynn Costa put her name in the school's top-10 list in the 5000 meters with a time of 16:58.46.
Lance Cunigan placed ninth in the men's 1500 meters, crossing the line in 3:56.38.
Amos Pkemoi was the top Jaguar in the men's 5000-meter Invite, finishing in 10
th place with a time of 14:51.38.

Track Events
Avery Childress took eighth place in the men's 100 meters with a time of 11.18 seconds. He also finished fourth in the 200 meters, crossing the finish line in 21.91 seconds.
Xavier Rogers was second, with a time of 21.81 seconds.
Field Events
In the men's high jump,
Dorian Curry finished in first place with a height of 2.15 meters, just .02 off his personal-high and school record.
Brylan Shirley took third place, clearing 1.89 meters. On the women's side,
Kiara Risher took first place with a height of 1.73 meters, and
Kamdyn Skinner was second, clearing 1.64 meters.
Savannah Morgan finished in first in the women's pole vault, clearing a personal-best 3.73 meters. Jags took first and second place in the men's pole vault event.
David Dolan finished in first place with a height of 5.11 meters, and Shirley was behind him in second place with a height of 4.24 meters.
In the women's triple jump,
Iyana Johnson had her third top-two finish of the season in the event, clearing 11.88 meters. Johnson also finished second in the shot put, marking 11.78 meters.
Dimitrios Manesiotis had the best mark in the men's shot put, reaching 14.62 meters. In third place was teammate
Phillip Douglas III, who marked a distance of 13.52 meters.
South Alabama took four of the top five spots in the men's discus event.
Francois Prinsloo finished in first place with a distance of 58.48 meters.
Trevor Hunziker finished third (45.28 meters),
Ryan Faut in fourth (45.07 meters) and
Sebastian Reyneke rounded out the top-five (40.85 meters).
Prinsloo also took the top spot in the hammer throw, marking 55.39 meters. Manesiotis was second with a distance of 53.26 meters, and Faut marked 48.98 meters to claim third place.
On the women's side of the hammer throw,
Bodine Degli-Umberti set a new personal-best with her first-place effort of 60.21 meters, which moves her to fourth in program history. In second place,
Colette Uys reached a distance of 58.92 meters, and Johnson was in third after marking 47.97 meters.
The Jags took the top-two spots in the women's javelin event.
Nichole Harting marked a distance of 38.98 meters, and
Mallory Norton recorded a throw of 37.05 meters.
After setting a personal-record in his last meet,
Jacob Wentz took first place in the javelin throw with a distance of 52.43 meters.
Cade Marty was second (51.43 meters) and in third was
Kobe Cox (48.96 meters).

UP NEXT
Select athletes will travel to participate in the Mt. SAC Relays in Walnut, Calif. next week, while the majority of the team will be participating in the Samford Invitational in Birmingham on Friday.
