NEW ORLEANS, La. – South Alabama's
Bodine Degli-Umberti has been named the Sun Belt Women's Field Athlete of the Week, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Degli-Umberti competed in three events at the Crimson Tide Invitational this past weekend, putting in her best performance in the hammer throw. She recorded a distance of 62.09 meters (203 feet, 8 inches) to set a new personal-record. It is also the second-longest mark in program history.
The throw was the best in the conference over the weekend, and it is third-longest among Sun Belt athletes this season. She now sits in the top-15 in the NCAA Division I south region in the event.
Degli-Umberti also recorded marks of 52.67 meters (172 feet, 10 inches) in the discus throw and 14.69 meters (48 feet, 2.5 inches) in the shot-put.
