Collard named Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year, multiple Jags earn Sun Belt honors

NEW ORLEANS, La. | Sebastien Collard has been named the 2023 Sun Belt Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Year for the second year in a row, while head coach Nick Brochu was named Men's Tennis Co-Coach of the Year, the Sun Belt Conference announced Tuesday.
 
Collard was also named to the first team All-Conference for singles, and was joined by sophomore Maxime St-Hilaire, while fifth-year senior Louis Delcour was named to the second team. The honor was the third for Collard and the second both St-Hilaire and Delcour.
 
Collard, a senior from Gatineau, Quebec, posted a 14-7 record in dual match play this season, going 7-1 in conference play, all from the number one spot. His lone conference loss came in three sets, where he fell 6-7 in the final set. In doubles, Collard posted an overall 13-2 record, going 5-0 in conference play with partner Martin Bugaj.
 
St-Hilaire finished the year with a 16-5 overall record and 6-2 in conference matches, going 12-3 from the number two spot and 4-2 from number three. He also led the Jaguar roster with 16 wins. The Levis, Canada native earned a ranked in this season, getting a 6-2, 7-5 win over #76 Martin Katz of Miami.
 
Delcour was 9-4 in singles play this season, going 7-2 from number three and 2-2 from number four. He finished with a 7-1 record in conference play.
 
In doubles, the ranked duo of Jack Clements and Delcour were named first team All-Conference, while the senior duo of Collard and Martin Bugaj were named second team.
 
Clements and Delcour and ranked No. 58 in the latest ITA rankings, after going 2-2 in dual match play, but are 10-3 overall this season after an 8-1 fall together.
 
Collard and Bugaj close the regular season with a perfect 7-0 record together, going 5-0 in conference matches, all from the number two spot in doubles.
