MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama track and field is back in Birmingham this weekend to compete in the South Alabama Invitational on Sunday at the Birmingham CrossPlex.

The teams competing at the event include: Alabama A&M, Alabama-Huntsville, Alabama, Alcorn State, Arkansas State, Arkansas Tech, Berry College, Central Arkansas, Cumberland University, Grambling, Jackson State, Lee University, Louisiana Tech, Memphis, Meridian CC, Middle Tennessee State, Montevallo, Samford, Savannah State,
South Alabama, Southern Arkansas, Southern Miss, Tennessee-Martin, UAB and Xavier-Louisiana.

Track events begin at 9:30 a.m. with the women's 5,000 meters, and will conclude with the men's and women's 4x400m relay around 5 p.m. Men's and women's shot put will open the field events at 11 a.m. The field events will conclude with the men's high jump at 4 p.m.

- Kyle Rademeyer set a new school record in the men's indoor pole vault (5.62 meters) at the New Mexico Open last week.
- In her last meet, Colette Uys broke the school record in the women's indoor shot put (15.77 meters).
- Kirami Yego set a meet record in the 3000 meters at the Samford Invitational (8:12.48).
- Freshman Iyana Johnson recorded the fifth-best triple jump mark in school history with her effort of 12.03 meters.
- In the South Alabama Invitational last season, the Jaguars set 23 new personal bests.
- This is the third meet of the indoor season for the Jags that is taking place at the CrossPlex.
- The CrossPlex will host the Sun Belt Championships on February 20-21.
