MOBILE, Ala. | South Alabama returns home this weekend to host the South Alabama Invitational presented by Marriott Mobile. Tournament action for the four-day event is set to get underway Thursday when the Jaguars take on Tulsa with first pitch set for 5 p.m. at Jaguar Field.
South Alabama (6-4) enters its second home tournament of the spring after picking up a 3-0 victory at McNeese State on Tuesday. USA will face Furman (3 p.m.) and Mississippi State (5:30 p.m.) on Friday, Tulsa on Saturday (5:30 p.m.) and Louisiana Tech (1:30 p.m.) on Sunday.
The Jaguars scored three two-out runs in the top of first against McNeese, and
Olivia Lackie made it hold as she tossed her fourth-straight shutout.
Mackenzie Brasher,
Victoria Ortiz,
Gabby Stagner and
Sasha Willems each recorded two hits apiece as part of South's season-high 11, while
Meredith Keel also had a hit and a pair of walks, to go along with a sacrifice bunt.
