Five seniors are listed among the 2023 South Alabama softball roster, and each Monday throughout the season, one will give fans a view through their eyes as they recap the previous week. On tap this week is pitcher
Jenna Hardy.
Hey Everyone!!! I'm senior pitcher
Jenna Hardy and I'm gonna give you a recap of my week!!
Monday – Off Day
Today was our off day!!! I got lucky that I was able to sleep in a bit after getting in late from our trip back from Clearwater. I started off my day by going to my internship for a couple of hours. After that I got to relax with a massage that was definitely needed!! Later that day, I got ready to head to my night class! I got lucky because it ended early and then I was able to go out to dinner with my roommates!!!!
Tuesday
I woke up and got ready for another day at my internship. After that I headed home to eat lunch and get ready for weights!! I always show up early for weights alongside
Gabby (Stagner). Today, we rode together today from the field.
After weights, I had a bullpen with
Madison (Lagle)!! This was a good bullpen because I got to start with some mobility to help loosen up after this past weekend games and a long trip on the bus. After that I had the rest of the day to relax and get some homework done!!
Wednesday
I know I'm getting a little repetitive, but again today I went into my internship and what to work the front fest today!! After that it was time for lunch then off to my early bullpen before practice. Today was a simpler day at practice for me. I got to do some mobility work and cardio with Liv (
Olivia Lackie). After practice was done, I went home, made some dinner and finished my homework.
ThursdayÂ
Another day of going to my internship, but the last day of the week for that!! Today was a pretty slow day for me at the office for my internship, but after that it picked up at practice. I had the early bullpen before practice with Liv!!!Â
It was more of a defensive day at practice, but we had to race the clock with rain and how much we could get in. We got in as much as we could when Jeff told us we had to trap and just as we finally got it in it started to pour and I can say he had some perfect timing with that. Once we were done with everything else, we had weights. It was a quick get in and get out kinda lift, but it was what we needed before game day!!!!
Friday – GAME DAY!!!
It's game day Jags!! I got up early and went to the Chik-Fil-A on campus to get breakfast and went up to the field early to do my hair!! I did a classic two braids into a bun hair do. After that I got ready and did
Erin's (McGlothlin) hair. We had two games and I stared the first game and it didn't go our way, but I ended up with a career high of 11 strikeouts in that game!! We had a game break in between, so the whole team had lunch in the locker. The next game, we came out strong and made the adjustments that we needed and came out with a win!!! And shout out to Maddie and Liv for throwing a combined no-hitter!!!!!! After that win, we are ready for what's to come tomorrow!!!
Saturday – GAME DAY pt. 2
It's another Jags' game day everyone!! I woke up to breakfast made by my roommates' parents and it was delicious. After that I headed up to the rec center to do a pool recovery with my fellow pitchers Liv, KK (
Kaitlyn Hughes) and Madison. It was very refreshing and relaxing before our games. Since I was already on campus, I decided to head to the field early. I got dressed and was able to catch some of the game before us. The first game I was in a relief role as Liv was starting. As a team, we were on fire doing what we do best, hitting the ball and playing as a team. Liv was on fire again today throwing another no hitter!!!! We won the first game and then it was on to the next. Our second game we played Rutgers and I got the start. This was such a fun game to throw. OD (
Odalys Cordova) was on fire and it was crazy in the second to watch her steal second base and then race all the way home!!!! This was the momentum I love to see as a pitcher and it allows me to work harder for my team!!! In the end, we won both games and after the Bebees had a crawfish boil and we all got to enjoy some good crawfish after the two games!! It was definitely a great day to be a Jag!!
Sunday – Final Day!
Today was the last day of the tournament and everyone on the team wanted to go out with a bang!! Liv got the start in the circle, but I knew as a relief role that I had to be ready at any point. But during the game Gabby broke it out with a two-run home run and it was exactly what we need to break the game open!! After that we scored two more runs so it was 4-0. It was after the fourth inning I got the call that I was gonna go in!!! Liv threw really well those first four innings!!! I came in ready to shut it down!!! I had my team behind me to rely on and it was smooth sailing!!! I love when we come together as a team and win!!! After the game was over, the pitchers had a pool recovery to get the body relaxed and it was well needed.Â
This was just the type of weekend we needed. While we didn't start our strong, we definitely ended strong with four wins!!! We have what we need to keep building on and to continue to better ourselves and I'm looking forward to it!! Looking forward to being back at Jaguar Field next weekend!! Hope to see y'all there!!
