NEW ORLEANS, La. – South Alabama pole vaulter
Kyle Rademeyer has been named the Sun Belt Indoor Men's Field Athlete of the Week for the second-straight week, the conference announced Wednesday morning.
Â
After winning the award last week with a height of 5.48 meters, Rademeyer bested the vault with a new South Alabama record of 5.62 meters (18 feet, 5.25 inches) while competing in the New Mexico Open. Rademeyer tied for the highest vault by a collegiate student-athlete at the event.
Â
The feat, which broke Rademeyer's previous school record by .02 meters, is the highest vault in the conference this season by .2 meters. It is tied for the fifth-highest mark in NCAA Division I so far this season.
Â
Rademeyer now owns the top-five highest indoor pole vault marks in school history, and seven of the top eight.
