QUOTABLE
Head coach Yolisha Jackson:
Opening statement:
"Not our best performance tonight. Lexi Alexander for Nicholls was really special, she ended up with 25 points and 8 rebounds. We didn't do a good job of defending her in the multiple post-ups. That is something we really need to get better at, post-defense. We talked about two things we need to see an improvement on, and that was offensive rebounds and turnovers. We didn't do well on offensive rebounds, a lot of balls went through our hands tonight. We had 17 turnovers. On nights when you don't shoot the ball well, you have to be able to control that. The technical foul, the six-point swing, really hurt us. I've got to challenge my team with our character. We can't act like that. We have to control situations and handle our emotions better. We've got to bounce back and get ready to tackle FAMU on Friday."
Â
On the two looks at the end of the game:
"We had two good looks at the end from Michiyah and Kelsey. It never comes down to the final possession. If we go back and look at it, some things happened in the game where we gave them life when we were on a run or we just missed open shots."
Â
On preparing for FAMU:
"We need to improve our mindset. Who are we? We sort of know who we are and what we want to do offensively, defensively we are still figuring it out. Who are we as people and how are we going to attack adversity? That is my message to the team. Our thing is, we don't want to lose two games in a row. We lost two games in a row with Florida State and Nevada, and we are going to try and stop this train and pick up a win on Friday."
