NOTES & QUOTES
Â
–Saturday's matchup between the Jaguars and Bobcats will mark the fifth time the two schools have played in San Marcos. South Alabama has never beat Texas State on their home field. The Jags encountered a similar situation earlier this season at ULM. The Jags had never beaten the Warhawks on their home field until they earned a 55-7 victory on Oct. 7.
Â
–A win over Texas State on Saturday would give the Jaguars their seventh victory of the season and clinch just the fifth winning season in program history.
Â
–With their sixth win of the season over Marshall, South Alabama became bowl eligible which means the Jags will go bowling for the second-consecutive season. It will mark the first time South has gone to a bowl game in back-to-back seasons in program history, and the fourth bowl game in school history.
Â
–Against Marshall, South Alabama's defense pitched a shutout against an FBS opponent for the first time in school history. It was also the first shutout since 2017 when the Jags held Alabama A&M to zero points.
Â
–With 117 yards in South Alabama's 28-0 win over Marshall,
La'Damian Webb became the first running back in South Alabama history to rush for 1,000 yards in two-different seasons.
Â
"I was certainly pleased with just the responsiveness of our team again. I think we were playing a very tough Marshall opponent that came off of a very strong victory the week before. Their d-line and defense plays with a ton of energy and I thought their offense did some really great things the week before. I thought we did a really great job of matching that energy early in the game."
Â
-Head Coach
Kane Wommack on the team's win over Marshall
Â
"He's very tough. Loves to play the game, wants to be there. He wants to be there for his team."
Â
-Offensive Coordinator
Major Applewhite on quarterback
Carter Bradley
Â
"It was good. We've come close about two or three times this year, and it was good to see us finish it out. That's a hard accomplishment to do. I thought the kids stayed on task, didn't lose focus, and closed it out the right way."
Â
-Defensive Coordinator
Corey Batoon on the Jags' defense earning a shutout against Marshall

LAST TIME OUT
Â
For the first time in program history, South Alabama football will go to a bowl game in back-to-back seasons thanks to the Jaguars earning their first shutout over an FBS program in school history after a dominant, 28-0, victory over Marshall Saturday night at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Â
For the second-straight week, the defense set the tone early for the Jaguars as South came away with interceptions on consecutive drives to open the game.Â
Jalen Jordan picked off Marshall's quarterback on the opening drive, and was followed byÂ
Jaden Voisin stepping in front of a pass on the next.Â
Marquise Robinson then closed out a near-perfect half for the defense by completing the interception hat trick and picking off a pass on the last play of the second quarter.
Â
Overall, South Alabama's defense held Marshall to just 201 total yards on the night, including a marginal 42 rushing yards. The defense swarmed to the ball all night with seven quarterback hurries, which held the Thundering Herd to a completion percentage of 61 with just 159 passing yards for the game.

Jamaal Pritchett andÂ
La'Damian Webb.Â
