NEW ORLEANS – The South Alabama soccer team had multiple student-athletes earn conference awards and all-conference team selections, the Sun Belt Conference announced Monday.

Gabby Hollar was named Sun Belt Player of the Year, Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year. Hollar is joined by graduate defender
Abby Jacobs, the league's Defensive Player of the Year. Head coach
Richard Moodie also earned some recognition, earning the honor of Coach of the Year.

It is the third year in a row a Jaguar has been named Player of the Year, Offensive of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, and the second time the same player has earned all three honors.

Hollar and Jacobs were also named First-Team All-Conference and were joined by graduate midfielder
Gracie Wilson. Five Jags were named Second-Team All-Conference: forwards

Chiara Singarella, midfielder
Irene Campo, defender
Amber Fortenberry and goalkeeper
Jaidy Gutierrez Campos.

Hollar, a transfer from Purdue, led the Jaguars and the Sun Belt in goals (12) and points (29) in her first year at South Alabama. Six of her goals came in league play, and the forward also added five assists. The West Liberty, Ohio native ranks 18
th in the NCAA in goals and 16
th in total points.

Jacobs, a graduate defender from Pensacola, Fla., has been dominant for the South Alabama defense this season, while also scoring two goals and three assists, with both goals being game-winners in conference play.

Coach Moodie has led South Alabama through a historic season, as the Jags posted a 15-0-3 record and an 8-0-2 conference record in the regular season, the first time in program history that South Alabama finished the regular season undefeated. South Alabama has outscored opponents 50-7 this season and has not given up multiple goals in a game all season.

The 2023 South Alabama team led the Sun Belt in 11 categories, including total goals (50), scoring offense (2.78), total points (146), goal differential (43), GAA (.39), and shots on goal per game (8.28). The Jags also finished the regular season ranked 7th in the nation in total goals, 2nd in GAA, 9th in points per game (8.11), 9th in scoring offense and 2nd in goal differential.

The first-team selection was the first for Hollar, the second for Jacobs and the fourth for Wilson, while the second-team selection was a first for Singarella, Greene, Campo and Fortenberry, and the third for Gutierrez Campos.

Wilson totaled six goals and five assists this season, with one game-winner. Her five assists are tied for third on the team and her six goals are third on the Jaguar squad. She made her 101
st career appearance in the final match of the season, making her the new program leader for appearances at South Alabama.

Singarella finished the season with eight goals and a team-high seven assists while coming in second in the league with 23 points. Greene finished her second season with the Jaguars with five goals and six assists, while Campo scored five goals as a freshman, with two game-winners. Fortenberry, a transfer defender from Ole Miss, scored three goals from the back line while adding four assists.
Gutierrez Campos recorded 10 shutouts this season, which is tied for a conference high. Her .387 GAA is a conference low, and she ranks second in the nation in GAA. She has also recorded 10 clean sheets in back-to-back seasons.
