NOTES & QUOTES

Â
–Wide receiver
Caullin Lacy ranks second in America in receiving yards with a total of 957. He is also top-10 in the country in all-purpose yards.
Â
–Lacy has now recorded seven-straight 100-yard receiving games while Webb has rushed for a touchdown in seven-consecutive contests.
Â
"Looking forward to a Thursday night, nationally-televised rivalry game against Troy. I have a lot of respect for that program. I think a lot of Jon Sumrall. We're friends, he's a great coach and a good person. We've known each other for years before we became the head coaches at South Alabama and Troy."
Â
-Head Coach
Kane Wommack on Thursday's matchup against Troy
Â
"It's a great scheme. It's a great style of play. Not just the scheme, their guys play hard. They fly to the ball. Very seldom do you find them out of place. You see them doing what they're supposed to do in the way they're supposed to be doing it. You see the right end has the same technique as the left end, so you can see a lot of their fundamentals carry through. You see them playing very fundamentally sound ball"
Â
-Offensive Coordinator
Major Applewhite on Troy's defense
Â
"Just the physical challenges. Mentally, I like it a lot better, especially coming off that last game. You get a chance to flush it and get right back to work. We had a really good practice this morning, a really physical practice. I think that's always good to be able to move on."
Â
-Defensive Coordinator
Corey Batoon on the pros and cons of a short week of preparation
Â

Â
LAST TIME OUT
Â
South Alabama could not overcome five turnovers as the Jaguars fell to Louisiana, 33-20, Saturday night at Hancock Whitney Stadium.
Â
Despite the loss, there were several strong individual performances from various Jaguars. The receiving duo ofÂ
Jamaal Pritchett andÂ
Caullin Lacy combined for 299 yards and two touchdowns on the night. Pritchett hauled in 11 receptions for 168 yards and two touchdowns. All three statistics were career highs for the sophomore receiver. Lacy caught seven passes for 131 yards, extending his streak of 100-yard receiving games to seven.Â
La'Damian Webb also provided South Alabama with 96 rushing yards and a touchdown, giving him a rushing score in seven-consecutive contests.
Â
Quentin Wilfawn was all over the field for the Jaguars on defense, setting a career-high in tackles with 15. His 4.5 tackles for loss also tied the school record for tackles for loss in a single game.Â
Jaden Voisin,Â
James Miller andÂ
Khalil Jacobs all pitched in eight tackles apiece.
Â
After a scoreless first half, South showed signs of life by coming out of the locker room with back-to-back touchdown drives. The defense struggled to get off the field, though, and the offense surrendered three more turnovers as the Jaguars could only climb within six points before the Ragin' Cajuns pulled away.
