QUOTES
Head Coach Matt Luther
- On the first tournament of the season:
"We start at home on purpose and get to play a bunch of the (Sun Belt) conference schools at home. It's a great way to start the fall."
- On the team's work leading into the first tournament:
"It's been a battle thus far this year against the rain. We have a bunch of young kids – three sophomores and two sophomores. We're super inexperienced, so it's a lot of coaching happening, which is fun. It's going to be good to have a couple of tournaments to see where we're at and where we can really go."
- On what graduate assistant Julie Hovland adds:
"Just the experience of being able to give information from a player's perspective who came out of our system, which I think I wildly undervalued how helpful that was going to be. To have that player's perspective, and she's really good at sharing it. I think that's going to be a cheat code for us this year. I think the timing is perfect with the crew that we have and her ability to help."
- On three rounds in three days:
"We play three tournaments this year that are 18-18-18, and we host them all, and that's not by accident. A 36-hole day is just so fast and furious. If you get going the wrong direction it can get away from you. Eighteen holes each day, especially with the young crew, helps us stop after the first round and reset; we can address stuff and get a little time to practice if we need then get back at it."
