MOBILE, Ala. –The University of South Alabama's Sébastien Collard was selected to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Men's At-Large team.
Collard, a junior from Gatineau, Quebec, Canada was voted the Sun Belt Conference Player of the Year after posting a 25-8 record in singles and 19-11 record in doubles. The junior went 15-6 in dual-match play in singles, including a 6-1 mark in Sun Belt competition. Collard closed out the season going 3-0 in singles at the Sun Belt Conference Tournament playing at the No. 1 position.
Among his singles highlights, Collard beat Alejandro Sanchez Gonzalez of Louisiana in straight sets as the Jaguars defeated the previously unbeaten Ragin' Cajuns on April 2. In doubles, he was a perfect 5-0 against Sun Belt opponents. Collard was named Sun Belt Player of the Week on March 30 after a pair of wins against Coastal Carolina and New Orleans.
The Quebec, Canada native was named first-team all-Sun Belt in singles and doubles this season.
Collard is majoring in economics and finance and posted a 4.0 GPA this semester.
In order to be considered for academic all-district honors, student-athletes must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or higher, be a starter or important reserve and must have sophomore status both academically and athletically.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in athletic competition and in the classroom. The at-large team includes student-athletes from all sports other than football, basketball, baseball, softball, soccer, volleyball and track & field.
