 All-Time Series
South Alabama owns a 68-38 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that dates back to 1967. Southern Miss snapped a six-game series losing skid with a win in the March 8 matchup in Hattiesburg earlier this year. South Alabama is 15-9 all-time against Southern Miss under head coach Mark Calvi. 

SEASON HIGH IN RUNS AT TEXAS STATE
South Alabama scored a season-high 21 runs in Sunday's series-finale win at No. 17 Texas State on 16 hits, which tied its season high that came against Alabama State on April 6 at Stanky Field. The Jags scored 10 runs in the second inning of Sunday's win, which marked the first time since June 5, 2021, at No. 14 Florida in the NCAA Gainesville Regional.

JOHNSON'S LAST START
Right-handed starter Walker Johnson tossed a career-high six scoreless innings and tied his career high in strikeouts with seven in last week's win over Tulane at Stanky Field. Johnson allowed two hits and issued a pair of walks while allowing just one extra-base hit, which came in the form of a double, on 100 total pitches.

SIMINGTON IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
Right fielder Miles Simington ranks 21st nationally in hits per game (1.60), which leads the Sun Belt Conference. Simington ranks second in the league in batting average (.383) and hits (64), third in RBIs (43), tied for fourth in triples (3), fifth in on-percentage (.452) and ninth in OPS (1.027).

HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Will Turner carries a team-best 29-game on-base streak into Tuesday's contest. Diego Altamirano enters with a 27-game on-base streak, and Eric Orbeta has reached safely in 25 consecutive games. Orbeta owns the team's longest hit streak at eight games.

TISSUE AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS 
Third baseman Cameron Tissue ranks third nationally in sacrifice bunts per game (0.32), which leads the Sun Belt Conference, and fifth in sacrifice bunts (11), which ranks second in the league. Pat Murphy (1992) owns the single-season record at USA for sacrifice bunts with 18.

STOKES CLIMBING CAREER GAMES PLAYED RECORD LIST
First baseman Hunter Stokes ranks third in career games played (222) at South Alabama, and needs to appear in 12 games to pass Brett Parker (233) for the most games played in program history. 

JAGS IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
The South Alabama pitching staff ranks 18th nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (7.92) and shutouts (4),  and 25th in WHIP (1.31) - all of which lead the Sun Belt Conference. USA also leads the SBC in fewest hits allowed (329) and opponent batting average (.238), and ranks second in runs allowed (204) and walks (160).

STOKES TIED FOR LEAGUE LEAD IN DOUBLES
First baseman Hunter Stokes enters the week tied for third in the Sun Belt Conference in doubles (14). His last double came April 19 at Southeastern Louisiana.

ORBETA IN SBC RANKINGS
Second baseman Erick Orbeta ranks second in the SBC in walks (33) entering the series. Orbeta has drawn nine walks in his last seven games, including a career-high four walks in an April 26 win over Tulane. He also ranks tied for sixth in the league in runs scored (38).

ALTAMIRANO SECOND IN OBP
Catcher Diego Altamirano ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in on-base percentage (.480) entering the game. Altamirano has reached base safely in 27 straight games.

172 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 172 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019 - with his 150th coming in the series finale with UT Arlington on March 20.

LAST 6 OUTS
The Jaguars are 20-0 when leading after seven innings this season, but are 0-14 when trailing after seven frames and 3-4 when the score is tied through seven. 

SCORE 6 OR MORE
South Alabama is 20-6 when scoring six or more runs this season, but 4-12 when scoring five or fewer. 

OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 23-3 when outhitting opponents this season, but is 1-12 when being out-hit and 0-3 when hits are tied. South Alabama was out-hit in two of three games last weekend against Georgia Southern. The Jaguars have been out-hit in five of its last six games, with the exception coming in game two of the Georgia Southern series when each team recorded seven hits apiece.

The Jags are 21-5 when holding opponents to five or less runs this season, but are 3-13 when allowing six or more.
