South Alabama owns a 36-15 all-time lead over ULM in a series that began in 1979. The Jags took two of three games from the Warhawks in 2018 at Stanky Field, which marked the last meeting between the schools. South Alabama has won 11 consecutive series over ULM dating back to 2008. USA has swept ULM four times under head coach Mark Calvi, and are 18-5 against the Warhawks all-time under Calvi.
SENIOR DAY SUNDAY
South Alabama will honor 13 student-athletes in a pregame ceremony as part of Senior Day festivities: Â Brandon Auerbach, JoJo Booker, Matt Boswell, Zach Harlan, Carson Hall, Tyler Lehrmann, Charles Middleton, Santi Montiel, Reid Powers, Miles Simington, Miles Smith, Hunter Stokes and Cameron Tissue.
STOKES CLIMBING CAREER RECORDS LIST
First baseman Hunter Stokes ranks third in career games played (227) at South Alabama, and needs to appear in seven games to pass Brett Parker (233) for the most games played in program history. He ranks fifth in career at-bats (749) after passing Mike Mordecai (733) last weekend, and tied for seventh in career walks (127) entering the weekend and needs one to pass Tyrone Dixon (127) for sixth on the career list.
HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Will Turner carries a team-best 34-game on-base streak into the series, and Diego Altamirano enters the series with a 29-game on-base streak. Turner and Hunter Stokes each carry a seven-game hitting streak into the weekend series.
SIMINGTON IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
Right fielder Miles Simington ranks 13th nationally in hits per game (1.62), and 21st in hits (73) - both of which lead the Sun Belt Conference. Simington also leads the league in batting average (.388), ranks fourth in RBIs (50) and total bases (114), fifth in on-base percentage (.457), tied for sixth in triples (3), tied for seventh in doubles (14), and eighth in OPS (1.063).
TISSUE AMONG NATIONAL LEADERSÂ
Third baseman Cameron Tissue ranks third nationally in sacrifice bunts per game (0.31), which leads the Sun Belt Conference, and fifth in sacrifice bunts (12), which ranks second in the league. Pat Murphy (1992) owns the single-season record at USA for sacrifice bunts with 18.
BOSWELL LEADING SBC
Right-hander Matt Boswell leads the Sun Belt Conference in strikeouts (81), ranks third in innings pitched (71.2), tied for third in wins (6), tied for sixth in fewest walks allowed (15) and eighth in opponent batting average (.224). Boswell has recorded six quality starts this season, including two of his last three dating back to an April 22 start against Georgia Southern, and has tallied eight or more strikeouts in six of 12 starts on the year.
JAG DEFENSE IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
The South Alabama defense ranks 15th nationally in double plays (42), which leads the Sun Belt Conference. The Jags rank 21st in double plays per game (0.89) and 32nd in fielding percentage (.976), both of which rank second in the league,
STOKES' LAST 7 GAMES
First baseman Hunter Stokes is batting .438 (14-for-32) with two doubles, three home runs, 12 RBIs and 11 runs scored in his last seven games played dating back to game two of the Texas State series on April 30. Stokes has recorded seven consecutive multiple-hit games entering the weekend, and has driven in at least one run in six of his last seven games including multi-RBIs in five of those contests.
ORBETA IN SBC RANKINGS
Second baseman Erick Orbeta ranks tied for third in the SBC in walks (33) entering the weekend. He also ranks tied for sixth in the league in runs scored (43).
ALTAMIRANO SECOND IN OBP
Catcher Diego Altamirano ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference in on-base percentage (.481) entering the series. Altamirano has reached base safely in 29 straight games.
179 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 179 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019 - with his 150th coming in the series finale with UT Arlington on March 20.
RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
South Alabama is batting .306 (180-for-588) with runners in scoring position this season. Will Turner is htting .400 (20-for-50) with RISP, and Miles Simington is batting .386 (23-for-59) after delivering a grand slam in Tuesday's contest at Tulane.
LAST 6 OUTS
The Jaguars are 23-1 when leading after seven innings this season, but are 0-14 when trailing after seven frames and 3-5 when the score is tied through seven. USA suffered its first loss of the season when leading after seven innings in a 6-4 loss to No. 5 Southern Miss on May 3 at Stanky Field after allowing three runs in the top of the ninth inning.
SCORE 6 OR MORE
South Alabama is 23-7 when scoring six or more runs this season, but 4-13 when scoring five or fewer. The Jags plated seven runs in Tuesday's 11-7 loss at Tulane.
OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 26-3 when outhitting opponents this season, but is 1-14 when being out-hit and 0-3 when hits are tied. The Jags tied their season high in hits (16) in last weekend's series finale with Arkansas State, matching their previous highs against Alabama State (April 5) and Texas State (May 1).

The Jags are 23-5 when holding opponents to five or less runs this season, but are 4-15 when allowing six or more.Â
