 All-Time Series
South Alabama owns a 13-6 all-time lead over Appalachian State in a series that dates back to 1973. The Mountaineers took two of three games from the Jaguars in last year's series in Boone, N.C. South Alabama clinched the Sun Belt Conference regular-season championship with its win in the series finale, which was also the 2021 regular-season finale. Prior to last season's meeting, the Jags had swept the Mountaineers in three straight series dating back to 2017. USA is 13-5 all-time against APP State under head coach Mark Calvi. 

SIMINGTON IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
Right fielder Miles Simington ranks 11th nationally in hits per game (1.76) and 24th in batting average (.419), both of which lead the Sun Belt Conference. Simington also leads the league in hits (44), ranks tied for second in RBIs, (30), third in on-base percentage (.479), fourth in total bases (66), tied for fourth in doubles (9) and fifth in slugging percentage (.629).

HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Simington carries a team-best 25-game on-base streak into the weekend, having reached base in every game he has played this season. Will Turner and Diego Altamirano have reached base safely in 14 straight games, while Erick Orbeta carries a 12-game on-base streak into the weekend. Turner has the longest team hitting streak at five games entering Friday's series opener.

TISSUE AMONG NATIONAL LEADERS 
Third baseman Cameron Tissue ranks seventh nationally in sacrifice bunts (7), which ranks second in the Sun Belt Conference. Tissue has five sacrifice bunts in his last six games played dating back to the series opener with UTA on March 18.

JAGS IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
The South Alabama pitching staff ranks ninth in hits allowed per nine innings (7.12) and WHIP (1.20), both of which lead the Sun Belt Conference. The Jags also lead the league in opposing batting average (.216), fewest hits allowed (193), runs allowed (119), earned runs allowed (104) and walks allowed (100), and rakn second in ERA (3.84).

MONTIEL'S LAST 9 GAMES
In his last nine games, dating back to a March 22 contest against Auburn, shortstop Santi Montiel is batting .333 (13-for-39) with three doubles, one triple, one home run, three RBIs and .538 slugging percentage. Montiel has hit safely in eight of nine contests during that span, including a season-high tying three hits against Alabama State on Wednesday. 

JAGS SET SEASON HIGH IN HITS
South Alabama recorded a season-high 16 hits in Wednesday's win over Alabama State, surpassing its previous high of 15 which came against Rhode Island (Feb. 25) and Auburn (March 22). 

BOSWELL IN SBC RANKINGS
Right-hander Matt Boswell ranks second in the SBC in strikeouts (51), tied for third in innings pitched (42), tied for fourth in walks allowed (8) and eighth in opposing batting average (.214).

MIDDLETON AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN WALKS
Left fielder/designated hitter Charles Middleton ranks fourth in the Sun Belt Conference in walks (19) entering the weekend. Middleton has drawn at least one walk in four of his last five contests, and six in his last eight games.

BOOKER IN SBC RANKINGS
Right-hander JoJo Booker ranks tied for third in the SBC in fewest walks allowed (8), and 10th in opposing batting average (.221). 

159 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 159 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019 - with his 150th coming in the series finale with UT Arlington on March 20.

LEHRMANN IN SBC RANKINGS
Left-hander Tyler Lehrmann ranks fourth in the SBC in hits allowed (24), and tied for ninth in runs allowed (16). In five starts this season, Lehrmann has logged five or more innings just once - at New Orleans on March 15. 

LEADING AFTER 7 INNINGS
The Jaguars are 15-0 when leading after seven innings this season, but are 0-9 when trailing after seven frames and 2-1 when the score is tied through seven.

OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 17-3 when outhitting opponents this season, but is 0-7 when being out-hit and 0-2 when hits are tied. 

STOKES AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN DOUBLES
First baseman Hunter Stokes ranks tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference in doubles (10) entering the weekend. Stokes recorded his team-leading 10th double of the season in Sunday's series finale at Georgia State. 

RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
USA is batting .296 (103-for-348) with runners in scoring position this season, led by Miles Simington who is hitting .432 (16-for-37) with RISP.

JAGS AT STANKY FIELD
South Alabama is batting .313 with 25 doubles, eight triples, six home runs, 94 RBIs, 109 runs scored, 20 stolen bases and .414 team on-base percentage in 13 home games this season. Miles Simington leads the team with a .438 batting average (21-for-48) at Stanky Field, followed by Will Turner at .408 (20-for-49) and Hunter Stokes at .353 (18-for-51). The Jaguar pitching staff has posted a 2.46 ERA with five saves, 133 strikeouts against 43 walks in 117 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .193 batting average at home this year.
