SOUTH ALABAMA JAGUARS
– South Alabama (16-17, 9-4 SBC) enters the midweek contest after dropping all three games to Louisiana over the weekend.
– South hit four runs in game one, led by Gabby Stagner's two, and the Ragin' Cajuns broke open game two with a five-run fifth inning.
– The Jags looked like they might take the series finale, but UL scored two runs with two outs in the top of the sixth and held off a seventh-inning rally as getting the final out after USA had loaded the bases.
– Despite being swept by the Ragin' Cajuns, the Jaguars have won 10 of their last 14.
– Mackenzie Brasher leads the team at the plate with a .347 batting average and her 13 stolen bases rank fifth in the conference.
– Brasher's eight multi-hit games this spring also top the club.
– The junior outfielder has been even better in league play as she is batting .447 in those 13 games.
– Brasher also enters the midweek contest with both a 16-game reached base safely streak and a six-game hit streak.
– Three other players are just under .300 – Caroline Nichols (.299), Victoria Ortiz (.275) and Meredith Keel (.273).
– Nichols has also been solid at the plate during conference play, batting .350, while Ortiz is hitting .314.
– Gabby Stagner (23) and Ortiz (19) rank first and second on the Jaguar roster, and have combined to drive in 33 in SBC play.
– Stagner has now driven in 19 runs against Sun Belt foes this spring with four of her five home runs coming in league play, including two in the series opener against Louisiana.
– Ortiz has also seen her power numbers jump as she has recorded six home runs in SBC action and all eight of her home runs this season have come since March 6.
– The Mobile, Ala., native paces the club with 16 extra-base hits and has now driven in at least one run in six of her last seven outings.
– Ortiz sits just outside the top 10 of the league in doubles (7) and her eight home runs are tied with five other players for sixth-most in the SBC.
– Ortiz also has a team-high six multi-RBI outings, while freshmen Stagner is right behind her with five.
– Abby Allen leads the team and ranks fourth in the league with 25 walks, 16 of which came during a 21-game reached base safely streak earlier this spring.
– She has also scored a team-best 19 runs, while Brasher is right behind her with 18.
– Olivia Lackie (8-6) holds a 2.28 earned run average in her 98.1 innings of work.
– The Walker, La., native has struck out 137 and is holding opponents to a .156 batting average, which rank third and second, respectively, in the league.
– She has gone the distance in nine of her 12 starts and holds five shut outs.
– Jenna Hardy has been just as solid in the circle holding a 2.28 ERA in 89.0 innings of work in the circle, while she has struck out 69 and issued just 15 walks this spring.
– Hardy has been outstanding in conference play holding a 0.93 ERA and a 4-1 record.
– Lackie is also third in strike outs looking (42), while Hardy ranks fifth (28).

THE SERIES VS. NICHOLLS STATE

– South has won 13 of the last 14 series meetings, and defeated the Colonels, 3-0 in Mobile last month in the Jaguars' home opener.
– The longest game in Jaguar program history came against the Colonels, a 16-inning affair won by Nicholls in Thibodaux on Feb. 25, 2020.
– USA holds a 10-2 series record at Jaguar Field, while they are just 4-3 in Thibodaux.
– Two meetings have come on a neutral field with both teams splitting those contests.
– The first series meeting came back during the Jags' inaugural season in 2007.
