South Alabama owns a 68-37 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that dates back to 1967. The Jaguars have won six straight games in the series dating back to 2019 after a 6-5 win in 13 innings on Feb. 22 in Hattiesburg earlier this season. USA is 15-8 all-time against USM under head coach Mark Calvi.Â
JAGS DURING WIN STREAK
South Alabama enters the game with a seven-game win streak, which began with its 6-5 win in 13 innings over Southern Miss on Feb. 22 this season. The Jags are batting .289 with 15 doubles, five triples, two home runs, 48 RBIs, 56 runs scored, six stolen bases and .384 team on-base percentage during their current win streak, while the pitching staff has recorded a 1.88 ERA with four saves, 69 strikeouts against 17 walks and limited opponents to a .174 batting average. Miles Simington is hitting .480 with one double, one triple, seven RBIs and four runs scored during the streak, and Will Turner is batting .400 with two doubles, one triple, six RBIs, seven runs scored and five stolen bases. Turner has hit safely in six of seven games during the win streak, including four multi-hit contests.
EARLY HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Right fielder Miles Simington carries a team-best nine game hit streak into Tuesday's contest. Santi Montiel enters the game with a team-best 14-game on-base streak dating back to last season, followed by Simington and Hunter Stokes at nine games apiece.
LEE CAREER VERSUS SOUTHERN MISS
Right-hander Jeremy Lee is 1-0 in his career against Southern Miss entering Tuesday's start. Lee tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed three hits with eight strikeouts without issuing a walk in his first collegiate start on Feb. 23, 2021, in a 5-3 Jaguar win at Stanky Field. Lee retired the first 10 batters he faced in the game before Reed Trimble doubled with one out in the top of the fourth inning.
JAGS IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
South Alabama's pitching staff ranks eighth nationally in WHIP (0.99), 14th in hits allowed per nine innings (6.03) and 20th in ERA (2.59). The Jaguar offense ranks 11th nationally in triples (7). Miles Simington and Will Turner rank tied for 14th in the country in triples (2).
JAGUAR BULLPEN
The South Alabama bullpen enters the game with a 2.23 ERA, three wins, five saves, 49 strikeouts and 21 walks in 44 1/3 innings pitched, and has limited opponents to a .201 batting average.
WOOD'S LAST 3 OUTINGS
Right-handed reliever Grant Wood has recorded two saves, allowed one run on two hits with eight strikeouts and two walks in his last three appearances, which totals six innings. Wood has tossed two innings in each of his last three outings, and has not allowed a run in two of those appearances including two scoreless relief innings in the 6-5 win over Southern Miss in 13 innings on Feb. 22 in Hattiesburg.

Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 142 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019.Â
SULLIVAN DRIVES IN CAREER HIGH
Left fielder Joseph Sullivan recorded a career-high four RBIs in Saturday's win over Middle Tennessee, which included his first collegiate home run that came on a three-run shot to right field in the bottom of the third.

The Jaguars are 5-0 when limiting opponents to two or fewer runs, but are 3-2 when allowing three or more this season. USA has not allowed more than three runs in a contest since its 6-5 win over Southern Miss in 13 innings on Feb. 22 in Hattiesburg.
OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama has out-hit nine of its 10 opponents this season, with the exception coming on Feb. 20 against Tennessee Tech when the Jags and Golden Eagles finished with 11 hits apiece.

The Jaguars were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference regular season title in a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches. USA received seven of 12 first-place votes in the poll.
