South Alabama owns a 28-5 all-time lead over Georgia State in a series that dates back to 1979. The Jags have won seven straight in the series, dating back to 2018, after sweeping the Panthers in three games in both 2019 and 2021. USA is 17-4 all-time against GSU under head coach Mark Calvi. 

SIMINGTON IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
Right fielder Miles Simington ranks 14th nationally in hits per game (1.76), which leads the Sun Belt Conference. SImington ranks 29th in the country in batting average (.420), which ranks second in the SBC. He enters the weekend ranked second in the league in hits (37) and RBIs (28), sixth in on-base percentage (.480), seventh in slugging percentage (.625) and ninth in total bases (55).

SMITH AMONG SBC LEADERS
Friday's starting pitcher Miles Smith enters the series tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead in wins (4), ranks second in ERA (1.95), tied for second in innings pitched (37), third in opposing batting average (.157), tied for third in strikeouts (42) and earned runs allowed (8), fifth in hits allowed (21) and tied for fifth in runs allowed (11). 
 
HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Simington carries a team-best 21-game on-base streak into the weekend, having reached base safely in every game he has played this season. Diego Altamirano enters the series with an 11-game on-base streak, followed by Will Turner at 10 straight games. Erick Orbeta owns the team's longest hit streak at seven games entering the series opener. 

JAGS IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
The South Alabama pitching staff ranks seventh nationally in WHIP (1.15), eighth in hits allowed per nine innings (6.87) and 22nd in ERA (3.50). Offensively, USA ranks 15th in the country in sacrifice bunts (17), and 20th in triples (9). The Jaguars lead the SBC in ERA, opposing batting average (.210), hits allowed (161), runs allowed (96) and earned runs allowed (82), and tied for the league lead in walks allowed (81). The USA offense ranks second in the SBC in triples (9), third in batting average (.289) and hits (241), tied for third in sacrifice bunts (17), and fourth in walks (103), runs scored (163) and on-base percentage (.384).

BOSWELL TIES CAREER HIGH IN INNINGS WITH COMPLETE GAME
Saturday starter right-handed pitcher Matt Boswell tied his career high in innings pitched in last Saturday's win at Louisiana with his second career complete game. Boswell allowed five runs on four hits with eight strikeouts and one walk to earn his fourth win of the season, which is tied with Miles Smith for the SBC lead.

MONTIEL CAREER VERSUS GSU
Shortstop Santi Montiel has batted .381 (8-for-21) with two doubles, one triple, one home run, four RBIs, three runs scored, .714 slugging percentage and .462 on-base percentage in six career games against Georgia State. 

JAG LONGBALLS
South Alabama has hit eight home runs in its last 10 games, dating back to a March 13 contest at Jacksonville State; however, the Jaguars have homered just three times - Cameron Tissue (3/25), Miles Simington (3/27) and Will Turner (3/29) - in their last five contests.

BOOKER LEADING SBC
Sunday starter right-hander JoJo Booker leads the Sun Belt Conference in fewest walks allowed (4), and ranks tied for ninth in opposing batting average (.207). Booker has recorded a quality start in four of his last five starts, including last weekend at Louisiana where he allowed three earned runs on six hits with one strikeout and no walks in six innings pitched. 

JAGUAR BULLPEN
The South Alabama bullpen carries a 3.63 era with five wins, seven saves and 84 strikeouts against 48 walks in 86 2/3 innings pitched this season while limiting opponents to a .222 batting average. 

155 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 155 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019 - with his 150th coming in the series finale with UT Arlington on March 20.

5 OR FEWER
The Jaguars are 15-3 when allowing five or fewer runs this season, and 1-4 when opponents score six or more. The Jags fell at Alabama on Tuesday after allowing five runs to the Crimson Tide.

OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 16-1 when outhitting opponents this season, but is 0-4 when being out-hit and 0-2 when hits are tied. 

ORBETA HEATING UP
Second baseman Erick Orbeta carries a seven-game hit streak into the weekend. Orbeta is batting .412 (14-for-34) with one double, four RBIs, eight runs scored and one stolen base during the streak, and has recorded multi-hit games in six straight games.

STOKES AMONG LEAGUE LEADERS IN DOUBLES
First baseman Hunter Stokes ranks tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference in doubles (9). Stokes recorded two doubles in Sunday's series finale at Louisiana, and has more doubles already this season than he has had in any other previous year as a Jaguar.
