 All-Time Series
The all-time series between South Alabama and UTA is tied 11-11 entering the weekend. The Jags won last year's series between the schools in Arlington, Texas, with a 6-4 win in game two and 6-3 win in the rubber match after the Mavericks took the series opener 3-2. USA has swept the last two series between the schools at Stanky Field, which came in 2016 and 2018. South Alabama is 11-11 all-time against UTA under head coach Mark Calvi. 

SIMINGTON IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
Right fielder Miles Simington enters the weekend ranked fifth nationally in hits per game (2.00), and 11th in batting average (.473) which leads the Sun Belt Conference. Simington hit .571 in three games last weekend at Jacksonville State with one double, one home run, five RBIs, two runs scored, an .857 slugging percentage and .563 on-base percentage. He hit safely in all three games, and recorded multiple hits in two of three contests. Simington also drove in at least one run in all three games with multi-RBIs in two contests, and tied his career high in hits (4) in Sunday's series finale.

HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Simington carries a team-best 13-game hit streak into the weekend - hitting safely in every game he has played in thus far this season. Santi Montiel enters the series with a team-best 19-game on-base streak, dating back to last season, along with a nine-game hit streak. Joseph Sullivan carries a seven-game on-base streak and five-game hit streak into Friday's series opener.

JAGS IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
South Alabama ranks sixth nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (6.11), seventh in WHIP (1.01) and 10th in ERA (2.51). Offensively, the Jags rank eighth in the country in triples per game (0.56) and 13th in triples (8). USA leads the SBC in ERA, opposing batting average (.190), hits allowed (95), runs allowed (52), earned runs allowed (39) and walks allowed (46), and tied for the league lead in saves (6).

WOOD CLOSING THE DOOR
Right-handed reliever Grant Wood has recorded saves in three of his last four appearances. Each save Wood has totaled in that span has come in the form of a six-out save, where he logged two innings in each appearance that he earned the save. In 6 2/3 innings pitched in his four appearances during that span, Wood has allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking 11 batters against four walks. 

JAGS WINNERS IN 11 OF LAST 12 GAMES
South Alabama has won 11 of its last 12 games, dating back to a 6-5 win over Southern Miss in 13 innings on Feb. 22 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Jags have posted a 2.07 ERA with 111 strikeouts against 33 walks and five saves in 113 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .181 batting average over that span, while the offense is batting .287 with 23 doubles, six triples, 11 home runs, 75 RBIs, 85 runs scored and nine stolen bases.

JAGUAR BULLPEN
The South Alabama bullpen enters the series with a 2.42 ERA, five wins, six saves, 71 strikeouts and 31 walks in 63 1/3 innings pitched, and combined for one shutout while limiting opponents to a .206 batting average.

JAGS RECORD FIRST SHUTOUT OF THE SEASON
South Alabama shut out Jacksonville State 7-0 in last Friday's series opener, which marked the first Jaguar shutout of the season. Right-hander Miles Smith tossed seven no-hit innings, followed by two scoreless relief innings from right-hander Jackson Boyd. 

JAG LONGBALLS
South Alabama hit nine home runs in its last five games entering the weekend. Santi Montiel has homered four times in his last four games, including two in Tuesday's win at New Orleans. Joseph Sullivan homered at Southern Miss (March 8), while Charles Middleton hit three in three games at JSU last weekend, including two in the second game of the series. Montiel hit two home runs at JSU and Miles Simington hit one. The Jags entered last week with just two home runs as a team.

147 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 147 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019. 

2 OR FEWER
The Jaguars are 7-0 when limiting opponents to two or fewer runs, but are 5-3 when allowing three or more this season.

OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama has outhit opponents in 13 of 15 games this season, with the exceptions coming on Feb. 20 against Tennessee Tech when the Jags and Golden Eagles finished with 11 hits apiece, and March 8 at Southern Miss when USM outhit the Jaguars 9-5.

LEADING AFTER 6 FRAMES
South Alabama is 9-0 when leading after six innings this season, and 1-3 when trailing after six frames. 

SCORING FIRST
The Jaguars are 6-1 this year when scoring first, and 6-2 when the opposition plates the first run after UNO scored first in Tuesday's contest in New Orleans.
