South Alabama owns a 98-64 all-time lead over New Orleans in a series that dates back to 1970. The Jags have shut out the Privateers in the last two meetings - a 5-0 shutout last season in New Orleans and a 5-0 shutout at Stanky Field in 2020 - and carry a three-game series win streak into Tuesday's game dating back to 2019 when USA defeated UNO 22-5 at Stanky Field. South Alabama is 14-4 all-time against New Orleans under head coach Mark Calvi. 

SIMINGTON IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
Right fielder Miles Simington enters the week ranked fourth nationally in hits per game (2.08), and fifth in batting average (.490), which leads the Sun Belt Conference. Simington hit .571 in three games last weekend at Jacksonville State with one double, one home run, five RBIs, two runs scored, an .857 slugging percentage and .563 on-base percentage. He hit safely in all three games, and recorded multiple hits in two of three contests. Simington also drove in at least one run in all three games with multi-RBIs in two contests, and tied his career high in hits (4) in Sunday's series finale.

HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Simington carries a team-best 12 game hit streak into Tuesday's game. Santi Montiel enters the contest with a team-best 18-game on-base streak dating back to last season, followed by Simington at 12 games.

JAGS IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
South Alabama ranks fifth in the nation in hits allowed per nine innings (5.98), sixth in WHIP (1.01) and 14th in ERA (2.61), which leads the SBC. The Jags also lead the league in opposing batting average (.187), fewest hits allowed (87), fewest walks allowed (45), runs allowed (51) and earned runs allowed (38), and tied for the SBC lead in saves with six.

WOOD CLOSING THE DOOR
Right-handed reliever Grant Wood has recorded saves in three of his last four appearances. Each save Wood has totaled in that span have come in the form of six-out saves, where he logged two innings in each appearance that he earned the save. In 6 2/3 innings pitched in his four appearances during that span, Wood has allowed just three hits and one earned run while striking 11 batters against four walks. 

JAGS WINNERS IN 10 OF LAST 11 GAMES
South Alabama has won 10 of its last 11 games, dating back to a 6-5 win over Southern Miss in 13 innings on Feb. 22 in Hattiesburg, Miss. The Jags have posted a 2.16 team ERA with 105 strikeouts against 32 walks in 104 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .176 batting average in that span, while the offense has posted a .286 batting average with 21 doubles, six triples, nine home runs and 69 RBIs. Defensively, USA has tallied a .970 fielding percentage in its last 11 contests.

JAGUAR BULLPEN
The South Alabama bullpen enters the game with a 2.49 ERA, five wins, six saves, 68 strikeouts against 31 walks, while combining for one shutout and limiting opponents to a .204 batting average.

JAGS RECORD FIRST SHUTOUT OF THE SEASON
South Alabama shut out Jacksonville State 7-0 in last Friday's series opener, which marked the first Jaguar shutout of the season. Right-hander Miles Smith tossed seven no-hit innings, followed by two scoreless relief innings from right-hander Jackson Boyd. 

JAG LONGBALLS
South Alabama hit seven home runs in four games last week, with one at Southern Miss and six in three games at Jacksonville State. Joseph Sullivan homered at Southern Miss, while Charles Middleton hit three in three games at JSU, including two in the second game of the series, Santi Montiel hit two home runs and Miles Simington hit one. The Jags entered last week with just two home runs as a team.

146 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 146 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019. 

2 OR FEWER
The Jaguars are 6-0 when limiting opponents to two or fewer runs, but are 5-3 when allowing three or more this season.

OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama has outhit opponents in 12 of 14 games this season, with the exceptions coming on Feb. 20 against Tennessee Tech when the Jags and Golden Eagles finished with 11 hits apiece, and March 8 at Southern Miss when USM outhit the Jaguars 9-5.

LEADING AFTER 6 FRAMES
South Alabama is 8-0 when leading after six innings this season, and 1-3 when trailing after six frames. 

SCORING FIRST
The Jaguars are 6-1 this year when scoring first, but 5-2 when the opposition plates the first run.

JAGS PICKED TO WIN SUN BELT CONFERENCE
The Jaguars were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference regular season title in a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches. USA received seven of 12 first-place votes in the poll.
