South Alabama owns a 21-7 all-time lead over Jacksonville State in a series that dates back to 1996. The Gamecocks took two of three games from the Jaguars last season at Stanky Field after winning the first two games of the series. The teams split a pair of midweek games in 2015, which marked the last meeting between the schools in Jacksonville, Ala. USA is 9-3 all-time against JSU under head coach Mark Calvi.
JAG WIN STREAK SNAPPED AT USM
South Alabama had a seven-game win streak snapped in Tuesday's 7-5 loss at Southern Miss. The streak started with a 6-5 win over Southern Miss in 13 innings on Feb. 22 in Hattiesburg, and included consecutive weekend sweeps of Rhode Island and Middle Tennessee.
EARLY HIT STREAKS, ON-BASE STREAKS
Right fielder Miles Simington carries a team-best nine game hit streak into the weekend. Santi Montiel enters the game with a team-best 15-game on-base streak dating back to last season, followed by Simington and Hunter Stokes at 10 games apiece.
JAGS IN NATIONAL, SBC RANKINGS
South Alabama ranks 11th nationally in triples (7), Â while the pitching staff ranks 17th in hits allowed per nine innings (6.35) and 24th in ERA (2.74). Offensively, USA leads the Sun Belt Conference in triples, while the pitching staff leads the league in ERA, saves (5), opposing batting average (.198) and earned runs allowed (31), and second in hits allowed (72), runs allowed (42) and walks allowed (38).
SIMINGTON LEADING SBC
Right fielder Miles Simington enters the series as the Sun Belt Conference leader in batting average (.459), which ranks 37th nationally, ranks tied for the league lead in triples (2), tied for fifth in hits (17), tied for sixth in on-base percentage (.488) and tied for eighth in total bases (24).
SMITH IN SBC RANKINGS
Right-hander Miles Smith ranks third in the Sun Belt Conference in opposing batting average (.158), sixth in ERA (2.25), tied for sixth in innings pitched (16.0)and ninth in strikeouts (18) entering Friday's start.
BOSWELL IN SBC RANKINGS
Right-hander Matt Boswell ranks third in the Sun Belt in strikeouts (24), sixth in opposing batting average (.175) and tied for sixth in innings pitched (16.0) entering Friday's start.Â
JAGUAR BULLPEN
The South Alabama bullpen enters the weekend with a 2.68 ERA, three wins, five saves, and 55 strikeouts against 27 walks in 50 1/3 innings pitched while limiting opponents to a .212 batting average.Â
143 AND COUNTING
Shortstop Santi Montiel has started 143 consecutive games - every game since he joined the program in 2019.Â
SULLIVAN DRIVING IN RUNS
Left fielder Joseph Sullivan recorded a career-high four RBIs in last Saturday's win over Middle Tennessee, which included his first collegiate home run that came on a three-run shot to right field in the bottom of the third, and drove in three runs in Tuesday's loss at Southern Miss with a three-run home run. Sullivan has recorded seven RBIs in his last 12 official at-bats entering the series opener.

The Jaguars are 5-0 when limiting opponents to two or fewer runs, but are 3-3 when allowing three or more this season after allowing seven in Tuesday's 7-5 loss at Southern Miss.
OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama has out-hit nine of its 11 opponents this season, with the exceptions coming on Feb. 20 against Tennessee Tech when the Jags and Golden Eagles finished with 11 hits apiece, and Tuesday at Southern Miss when USM outhit the Jaguars 9-5.
LEADING AFTER 6 FRAMES
South Alabama is 7-0 when leading after six innings this season, and 0-3 when trailing after six frames.Â
SCORING FIRST
The Jaguars are 4-1 this year when scoring first, but 4-2 when the opposition plates the first run.

The Jaguars were picked to win the Sun Belt Conference regular season title in a preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches. USA received seven of 12 first-place votes in the poll.
