NEW ORLEANS, La. | South Alabama returns to the field for the first time in 24 days when it hits the field at the Caesars Superdome on Wednesday night to take on Western Kentucky in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl.

South Alabama (10-2) closed out the regular season with their most successful season at the FBS level in the program's history, setting a new mark for wins and conference wins (7-1 in the Sun Belt). The Jags enter the game on a five-game winning streak, the longest of the season after a home win over Old Dominion to close out the regular season.
The Jags will enter the game with one of the best defenses in the nation, allowing just 302.8 yards per game (11th in the nation). They are also fifth in the nation in rushing defense, allowing just 85.8 yards per game and are 14th in the nation in scoring defense. The Jags will be facing one of the best offenses in the nation on Wednesday in WKU (8-5) who are second in the country in passing offense at 339.2 yards per game.
South Alabama has been proficient on offense this season and currently sits 41st in the nation in scoring at 31.9 points per game, while also holding the ball for 32:24 (19th in the nation).

GAME NOTES
- South Alabama is playing in its first bowl game since the 2016 Arizona Bowl and the third bowl game in school history, also playing in the 2014 Camelia Bowl.
- The Jags' Kane Wommack played in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl twice as a player at Southern Miss, splitting the two games including a win over Troy in 2008.
- Sophomore safety Yam Banks was selected to the First Team All-Sun Belt team by the conference and Phil Steele, earning Honorable Mention All-American honors from Phil Steele after posting five interceptions.
- Junior quarterback Carter Bradley rewrote the single season record book for the Jags, setting new marks with yards, completions, and touchdowns. Meanwhile, all-conference running back La'Damian Webb became the second player in school history to rush for 1,000 yards in a single season and set marks for rushing attempts and touchdowns.
- Senior receiver Jalen Wayne set a single-season mark with nine touchdown receptions.
- The Sun Belt Conference is 14-7 overall in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, including winning the last five. This year's game will feature a pair of teams playing the bowl game for the first time.
