MOBILE, Ala. – South Alabama men's tennis Sébastien Collard and the doubles pairing of
Jack Clements and
Louis Delcour earned ITA rankings for the upcoming season, the ITA announced Wednesday morning. The ITA rankings feature the top 125 singles players and the top 60 doubles duos after the fall season.
Collard is ranked No. 123, after going 7-2 in fall tournament play, and the doubles duo of Clements and Delcour crack the top-20, coming in at No. 16, after posting a record of 8-1 this fall.
Collard is the second-highest ranked Sun Belt Conference player, while Clements and Delcour are the highest ranked duo in the conference.
Head coach Nicolas Brochu:
"It's great to have three guys in the rankings. I think we had a great fall. Guys pushed really hard, it's all about seizing opportunities and the guys, especially in doubles, played a few ranked players and took advantage of it and got those big wins. Those wins will carry us into the season, even the ones that seemed like normal wins. Right now, they have a win over a number one Ole Miss team, and down the road those guys will be ranked top-25 in the nation, so that win is going to pay off down the road. Very proud of those guys. Seb told me last season one of his goals was to reach the NCAA Individual championship, and he's on the right track.
This is just the beginning. We've got to make sure we keep pushing, because getting the ranking is hard but maintaining and improving the ranking is even harder. We've got to keep working hard, and we've got a strong schedule to back it up. These guys will have plenty of opportunity in the spring to increase their ranking."
