MOBILE, Ala. – Jack Clements is one of three newcomers set to take the court for the South Alabama men's tennis team this upcoming season. Clements spent the past two seasons at Cowley (Kan.) C.C. where he finished last season as the national champion in doubles, posting a 12-1 record in doubles and finished as the national runner up in singles. Clements is set to make his Jaguar debut as South Alabama will travel to Hattiesburg, Miss. for the Southern Miss Invitational September 25-26.

What were some prior accomplishments before coming to South Alabama?

"I went to junior college for a couple of years. Last semester I was the national runner up in singles and finished as doubles national champion last year."

What are some of your goals for the upcoming season and the fall schedule?

"A personal goal for me would be to just build my body up a little bit and get a little bit stronger. There are a few tournaments coming up so just being able to compete well in those tournaments and make the school proud. That's my goals for this semester."

What stood out about South Alabama during the recruiting process?

"The tennis facility is really nice. The training facility and recovery stations are nice. Obviously, the program itself, they've won three conference titles in a row and they have a high ranking nationally."

When did you start playing tennis?

"I started playing at seven and played socially until about ten years old. My coach thought I had talent and wanted me to take it seriously."

Who are some of your favorite tennis players?

"I like Rafael Nadal. But my favorite player is Nick Kyrgios. I love watching him play, he's so much fun and such an entertainer."

What are some of your strongest parts of your game?

"I would say my two favorite shots would be my serve and I like coming forward to the net."
