NOTES
- Friday's meet marked the lone home meet during the regular season. However, South is scheduled to host the Sun Belt Conference Championships on Oct. 29 at Brookley by the Bay.
- This fall's meet marked the 47th running of the Azalea City Classic.
- All seven Jaguar men placed in the top 10 spots.
- Yego's win marked the second straight season he has won the meet title and the fourth straight year a South Alabama male runner has paced the field and the seventh time in the last nine times at the meet.
- The men have finished first as a team at the meet in seven of the last nine runnings of the Azalea City Classic.
- Flanagan, a junior college All-American, made his South Alabama debut for the men.
- This was the first win for Magaud. With her win, the Jaguars have now taken home top individual honors on the women's side at the meet for each of the last seven season's dating back to the 2015 (JoAnna McCoy).

THEY SAID IT
Head coach Parker Cowles

- On Adele Magaud's performance: "Adele Magaud came back in terrific shape and I am very excited. I mean we have to replace Carolien Millenaar who was the leader of this team and I think athletically Adele did that. I think in terms of leadership she is starting to fill that role as well so that's exciting."
- On the women's team performance: "I think the ladies have to work on execution a little bit. I don't want to see them cooped up, I want to see them a little more deliberate. We had trouble closing out the race but even still I thought we matched up against a very good Troy team. I was excited about the results, we will get going next week and add a few more of our runners to our line up."
- On the men's team performance: "We know we are a good team. They've got a lot that they want to accomplish as returning conference champs but we have to execute. I think today they kind of showed their experience and their know how. At the front we were very good and I think our pack was deliberate so that's really what we talked about and what we wanted. Nate Pudner did a great job leading the 3,4,5,6 guys and I think the executed right. Next week we go to a much bigger race but I think they are ready for the jump to 8k."

Sophomore Adele Magaud
-On her performance: "I am very happy, this is my first collegiate win so it's very nice. This girl that I was competing against was very good so I was thinking I will just go with her until the 3k and then after that I can pressure a little bit more. At the 3k mark she wasn't following me so I just went and it was scary but the last kilometer I felt very good."

Freshman Kirami Yego
-On his performance: "For today's race, coach told me I should go in front because I'm in good shape right now so I had to pass the other guys and win as a team but I had to win as an individual too."

UP NEXT
- South Alabama will head north as they travel to Huntsville, Ala., to compete at the South Region Preview hosted by North Alabama next Friday (Sept. 17). The men's 8k is set to get underway at 7:30 a.m., while the women's 5k is slated to start at 8:15 a.m. at the John Hunt Cross Country Running Park.
