Elizondo, Johnson Close Season Landing Personal Bests at NCAA South Regional

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. - Jaguar leaders Charleen Elizondo and Xavier Johnson competed at the NCAA South Regional individually Friday morning, representing the Jaguars.

The women's race saw competitors run the 6k, with Elizondo not surprisingly setting yet another personal best this season, breaking previous PB's three times this year. The junior finished 62nd in a field of 201 talented individuals, with a time of 20:57.05.

Xavier Johnson represented the men's side competing in the 10k. Johnson claimed a personal best of his own landing him in 100th place in the 192-runner race, with a time of 32:14.43.

Quotable:
Head Coach Parker Cowles, on the impact of these two athletes:
"Charleen has continued to grow, that was a great finish to the year after a really strong conference performance. I'm really excited about what's in store for her future as she continues to develop and she has had the right attitude and approach all season."

"That closes out Xavier's career for us. He had a special career, went out a conference champ, and it was by far his best cross country season. He performed really well throughout the season and put up a lot of his best times, so I'm proud of how he went out."
