JAGUARS’ EVRARD EARNS BID INTO NCAA SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIP

5/4/2021 6:26:00 PM

INDIANAPOLIS – The University of South Alabama's Julien Evrard has been selected as the Sun Belt Conference's automatic qualifier for the NCAA Men's Singles Championship as announced by the NCAA selection committee on Tuesday afternoon.

Evrard was one of the 13 automatic qualifiers for the tournament, which will be held May 23-28 at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla.

The last Jag to compete in the NCAA Singles Championship was Tuki Jacobs in 2017.

After winning the league's Newcomer-of-the-Year award and being named to first-team all-Sun Belt in singles, Evrard has notched a 19-7 overall singles record and a 13-4 record — going 10-4 at the top flight and 3-0 at the No. 2 position — in dual matches during the spring season.

The Lille, France, native has been ranked in the top 100 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings all but one week of the spring season, as Evrard won 15 of his first 21 matches to start the season and was ranked as high as No. 79.

The official bracket will be released prior to opening play of the NCAA Singles Championship.
