JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of South Alabama's redshirt freshman Francois Prinsloo was outstanding in the discus throw as he recorded a first-place mark of 65.85m at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round at the Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

NOTES
- Redshirt freshman Prinsloo dominated in the discus throw as he broke the facility's record formerly set by LSU's Rodney Brown with a 63.34m performance in 2014. The Worcester, South Africa, native set the Jaguar record in the same event and is currently the best discus thrower in the league.
- Sophomore Dorian Curry's effort in the high jump was tied for 32nd in the event with a height of 2.06m.
- Senior Christian Ellis finished 38th in the triple jump with a leap of 14.85m on his second attempt.
UP NEXT
- The NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round concludes Saturday with the women's high jump at 12 p.m. (CT), while the running events begin at 4:30 p.m. (CT) with the women's 4x100 medley relay.
