JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – The University of South Alabama's senior Autavia Fluker was remarkable at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round Thursday afternoon after her jaw-dropping performance in the hammer throw at the Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

NOTES
Fluker was unbelievable in the hammer throw as she shattered her Sun Belt and school record for the fourth time this season with a 70.02m mark, the best throw at the meet. The Bessemer, Alabama native broke the facility's hammer throw record previously set by Brooke Pleger of Bowling Green (67.73m) in 2015. The senior later recorded a 15.25m distance in the shot put at the same meet.

- The NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round continues Friday with the men's high jump at 12 p.m. (CT), while the opening round of the men's 4x100 medley relay begins at 4:30 p.m. (CT).

- On Fluker's performance: "Tata [Fluker] did a great job today. She got better every throw, saving her best for last. The funny thing is she almost scratched the throw because I guess she did not think it was good. I had to tell her to keep it. She won against some of the best throwers in the NCAA today."
