NEW ORLEANS – The University of South Alabama football team will play its first two home games of the 2021 season under the lights at Hancock Whitney Stadium with the announcement of kickoff times and television information for the opening weeks of the season made by the Sun Belt Conference office on Thursday.
The Jaguars will play host to Southern Mississippi in the season opener at 7 p.m. (CDT) on Saturday, Sept. 4, in Mobile, with South set to face Alcorn State at home at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 18 as well. Â In between, the Jags will visit Bowling Green on Saturday, Sept. 11, with kickoff in Ohio slated for 3 p.m.
South's first two match-ups with the Golden Eagles and Falcons can be seen on ESPN+, while the contest against the Braves will be broadcast on ESPN3.
It was also revealed that USA's Thursday, Oct. 14 Sun Belt Conference home game against Georgia Southern —previously announced to air live on ESPNU — will get underway at 6:30 p.m.
All other game times and additional television information for the fall will be announced at a later date.
The Jaguars' 2021 season will be the first under the direction of head coach Kane Wommack, a finalist for the Broyles Award — which is given annually to the top NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision assistant coach — last fall.
