TEMPE, Ariz. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team finished the season ranked No.71 in the final rankings as announced by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association Wednesday afternoon.

The Jaguars have faced six nationally-ranked opponents in the top 75, highlighted by their Sun Belt Conference Championship victory over No. 62 Georgia State on April 25 at the Peachtree City Tennis Center in Peachtree City, Ga. South defeated the Panthers in the finals of the Sun Belt Conference Tournament 4-1 and moved on to the NCAA Tournament where they faced the top in the country, Florida Gators on May 7 at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex in Gainesville, Fla.

The Jags have made three consecutive appearances in the NCAA Tournament and have recorded 14 overall appearances in school history. South Alabama concluded the season with an overall 12-8 record.

- On the season: "We are happy to have finished the season ranked top 75 in the nation. By the end of the season, we were playing at a top 50 level. Unfortunately, we had two losses this year that hurt our ranking.  We came extremely close to beating a couple of teams in the top 40 this season, and those wins would have put us in the top 50. We were a little young this yea,r but we've learned so much throughout the season. By the end of the season, we were performing at a high level, and we won the conference championship. I am very proud of the way we improved and the way we finished the season because it's very promising for next year. We are happy with being ranked No.71 however; our goal is to finish in the top 50 every year. We've been there before, and we'll definitely go back there."
