Coastal Carolina owns a 10-6 all-time lead over South Alabama in a series that started in 2005. CCU has won four of the last five contests in the series, and has won three straight series over the Jags dating back to 2017. South Alabama is 3-8 all-time against Coastal Carolina under head coach Mark Calvi. 

JAGS AT HOME
South Alabama enters the weekend with a 12-game home win streak, dating back to the series finale with Jacksonville State on March 14. The Jaguar pitching staff has posted a 1.50 ERA with six saves, three shutouts, 136 strikeouts and 34 walks in 108 innings pitched during the streak, while limiting the opposition to a .181 batting average.

CALVI ECLIPSES 300 CAREER WINS
Jaguar head coach Mark Calvi earned his 300th career win in game two of the Georgia State series on April 25 at Stanky Field. Calvi enters the weekend with 303 career wins, all of which have come at South Alabama. 

JAGS IN TOP 10 NATIONALLY IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama enters the weekend ranked seventh nationally and second in the Sun Belt in sacrifice bunts with 39. Kaleb DeLaTorre leads the Sun Belt Conference and ranks fourth in the nation with 10 sacrifice bunts.

JAGUAR PITCHING STAFF IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Jaguar pitching staff ranks 23rd nationally in WHIP (1.26), which leads the Sun Belt Conference, entering the weekend.

LEHRMANN IN SBC RANKINGS
Left-hander Tyler Lehrmann ranks fourth in the Sun Belt in fewest hits allowed (37) and sixth in opposing batting average (.214)

JAGS WHEN OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 15-1 when outhitting the opposition this season, 5-11 when getting outhit and 6-5 when hits are tied. The Jaguars suffered their first loss of the season when outhitting the opponent in last weekend's series opener at Texas State.

JAG DEFENSE LEADS SBC
South Alabama leads the Sun Belt Conference in fielding percentage (.977) entering the weekend. The Jags committed two errors in last weekend's three-game series at Georgia Southern, with one in game one and one in game two of the series.

WILSON CAREER VERSUS CCU
Left fielder Ethan Wilson is batting .364 (4-for-11) with two doubles, one RBI, two runs scored, one stolen base and a .500 on-base percentage in three career games against Coastal Carolina, which came in a three-game series in 2019. 

SANDLE DURING ON-BASE STREAK
Center fielder Michael Sandle carries a 12-game on-base streak into Friday's series opener. During his 12-game streak, which dates back to game two of the Louisiana series on April 19, Sandle is batting .365 with one double, three home runs, 16 RBIs, 12 runs scored, four stolen bases and .393 on-base percentage. He has hit safely in 11 of 12 contests, with last Sunday's series finale at Texas State as the lone hitless game in that stretch. 

SMITH IN SBC CATEGORIES
Right-hander Miles Smith enters the weekend tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead in fewest earned runs allowed (10), and ranks second in ERA (1.78) and fewest runs allowed (14). Smith ranks fifth in opposing batting average (.209), tied for fifth in hits allowed (39), and ranks sixth in walks allowed (15).

JAGS ALLOW SEASON HIGH IN HITS, RUNS IN TXST SERIES OPENER
South Alabama allowed a season-high 13 runs on a season-high 19 hits in the series opener at Texas State last Friday. It marked just the fifth game this season the Jags have allowed 10 or more runs, and the most since allowing 11 runs at Georgia Southern in game two of the series on May 1.

JAGUAR SNAP 4-GAME LOSING SKID
South Alabama snapped a four-game losing streak with its 9-4 win over Texas State in last weekend's series finale in San Marcos. Prior to that streak, the Jaguars won a season-best nine straight games, which ended in game two of the Georgia Southern series on May 1. 

ALLOWING FIVE OR LESS
South Alabama is 25-4 this season when allowing five runs or less, but is 1-13 when opponents score six or more. 

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.
