 All-Time Series
South Alabama holds an 18-8 all-time lead over Georgia Southern in a series that began in 1987. The Eagles took two of three games from the Jags in Statesboro in 2019, which marked the last meeting between the schools. USA's last series win over Georgia Southern came in a three-game series sweep at Stanky Field in 2018. South Alabama is 13-6 all-time against Georgia Southern under head coach Mark Calvi.

CALVI ECLIPSES 300 CAREER WINS
Jaguar head coach Mark Calvi earned his 300th career win in game two of last weekend's series with Georgia State. Calvi enters the weekend with 301 career wins, all of which have come at South Alabama. 

JAGS IN TOP 5 NATIONALLY IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama enters the weekend ranked fourth nationally and second in the Sun Belt in sacrifice bunts with 36. Kaleb DeLaTorre leads the Sun Belt Conference and ranks second in the nation with nine sacrifice bunts.

JAGUAR PITCHING STAFF IN NATIONAL RANKINGS
The Jaguar pitching staff ranks eighth nationally in hits allowed per nine innings (7.04), ninth in WHIP (1.17) and 12th in ERA (3.34) - all of which lead the Sun Belt Conference - entering this weekend's series. 

JAGS DURING WIN STREAK
During its current eight-game winning streak, the South Alabama pitching staff has recorded a 1.00 ERA, two shutouts, four saves, 83 strikeouts and 19 walks in 72 innings pitched while limiting the opposition to a .183 batting average. The Jags have held opponents to two or fewer runs in each game of its eight-game streak. Offensively, Ethan Wilson leads the team with a .367 batting average during the streak, along with four RBIs, five runs scored, four stolen bases and a .441 on-base percentage. Michael Sandle is batting .323 with one double, five RBIs, seven runs scored and seven stolen bases during that span. 

MONTIEL NEARING 100 HITS
Jaguar shortstop Santi Montiel enters the weekend one hit shy of 100 for his career. Montiel has recorded 99 hits in 111 career games.

JAGS WHEN OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 14-0 when outhitting the opposition this season, 5-9 when getting outhit and 5-4 when hits are tied. 

JAG DEFENSE IN SBC CONTESTS
After committing three errors in its first 13 Sun Belt Conference games this season, South Alabama committed three errors in last weekend's series sweep of Georgia State. USA was charged with two errors in game two, and committed one error in the series finale. The Jags are fielding a league best .988 in 15 conference games this year.

JAG PITCHING IN SUN BELT GAMES    
The Jaguar pitching staff leads the SBC in ERA (2.80), opposing batting average (.189), saves (8) and runs allowed (43), ranks second in fewest hits allowed (88) and earned runs allowed (41) and third in strikeouts (150) in Sun Belt contests entering this weekend's series.

SANDLE DURING HIT STREAK
Center fielder Michael Sandle carries a six-game hitting streak into the series opener. Sandle is batting .417 with one double, five RBIs, six runs scored, four stolen bases and a .444 OBP during that stretch, and has hit safely in every contest, including multiple hits in four of those six games.

HOME RUNS IN DAY, NIGHT GAMES
South Alabama has hit 20 of its 29 home runs this season in day games, led by Michael Sandle and Ethan Wilson with four each. Caleb Balgaard leads the team with four home runs in night contests, followed by Kaleb DeLaTorre with three. 

LEE IN SBC RANKINGS
Right-hander Jeremy Lee ranks second in the SBC in strikeouts (66), third in fewest walks allowed (9) and eighth in ERA (3.10). 

STOKES, DELATORRE VERSUS GEORGIA SOUTHERN
In nine career games against Georgia Southern, second baseman Hunter Stokes is batting .379 (11-for-29) with two home runs, nine RBIs, 10 runs scored and a .500 on-base percentage. First baseman Kaleb DeLaTorre is batting .462 with two doubles, six RBIs, two runs scored and .500 OBP in three career games against the Eagles. 

SMITH LEADS SBC IN 2 CATEGORIES
Right-hander Miles Smith leads the SBC in ERA (1.69), which ranks 18th nationally, and fewest earned runs allowed (7) entering the weekend. Smith struck out a career-high 11 batters in a career-high 7 2/3 innings pitched in last weekend's start against Georgia State. Smith has allowed just four earned runs over his seven appearances, which spans 24 2/3 innings, and struck out 25 batters against six walks.

ALLOWING FIVE OR LESS
South Alabama is 23-4 this season when allowing five runs or less, but is 1-9 when opponents score six or more. 

JAGS ON THE ROAD
South Alabama is batting .212 in 16 road games this season, while the pitching staff has recorded a 4.27 ERA in 139 innings pitched. The Jags are 9-7 in road games entering the weekend. 

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.
