South Alabama holds a 65-50 all-time lead over Louisiana in a series that dates back to 1975. Louisiana took two of three games from the Jaguars in 2019 in Lafayette, La., which marked the last meeting between the schools. USA took two of three games from the Ragin' Cajuns in 2018 in Lafayette in a non-conference series, which marked the last Jaguar series win. UL has won the last three SBC series, dating back to 2016, and the last Jag series win in a conference series with UL came in 2015 in Lafayette. USA is 11-16 all-time against Louisiana under head coach Mark Calvi.

JAGS LEAD NATION IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama enters the week as the nation's leader in sacrifice bunts with 31. Kaleb DeLaTorre is tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead and ranks tied for 11th nationally with six sacrifice bunts this year.

JAGUAR PITCHING STAFF IN SBC RANKINGS
The Jaguar pitching staff enters the series as the Sun Belt Conference leader in fewest hits (219) and fewest home runs allowed (19), earned runs allowed (115) and tied for the league lead in fewest runs allowed (142). USA ranks second in opposing batting average (.222), and third in strikeouts (292) and saves (9).

BOOKER LEADS LEAGUE IN OPPOSING BATTING AVERAGE IN SBC GAMES
Right-hander JoJo Booker leads the Sun Belt in opposing batting average (.137), ranks tied for third in wins (2) and 10th in ERA (3.00) in conference games entering the series.

JAG DEFENSE ROLLING
The Jags have not committed an error in three straight games entering Saturday's series opener, and have been charged with just one error in their last eight games, dating back to March 30 at LSU, which came in last weekend's series opener at Little Rock. USA is fielding .996 with seven double plays during that span. 

LEE AMONG TOP 3 IN SBC IN STRIKEOUTS
Right-hander Jeremy Lee enters Saturday's start ranked third in the SBC in strikeouts (54), fourth in fewest walks allowed (8) and eighth in ERA (3.51).

TWO-OUT RBIs
South Alabama has recorded 57 two-out RBIs this season, which accounts for 41 percent of its 138 total RBIs. Hunter Stokes and Santi Montiel share the team lead with leads the team with 10 RBIs apiece with two outs.

JAGS WHEN OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 10-0 when outhitting the opposition this season, 4-9 when getting outhit and 3-4 when hits are tied. 

ALLOWING FIVE OR LESS
South Alabama is 16-4 this season when allowing five runs or less, but is 1-9 when opponents score six or more. 

SMITH, PEREZ AT NIGHT
Jaguar right-hander Miles Smith is 1-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA in five appearances, including one start, in night games this season. Smith has recorded 12 strikeouts against four walks and combined for three shutouts in 16.0 innings pitched at night. Right-hander Tyler Perez has posted a 2.00 ERA in four appearances in night games, and struck out 10 batters without issuing a walk in nine total innings in those contests.

RUNS ALLOWED OVER FINAL THREE INNINGS
South Alabama has allowed 58 total runs in the final three innings, excluding extra-inning contests of games this season, while allowing 80 total runs in the first six innings of games. USA has allowed four runs in extra innings this season, and is 2-2 in extra-inning contests.

WILSON IN NIGHT GAMES
Ethan Wilson is batting a team-best .356 with four doubles, two triples, one home run, 13 RBIs, seven runs scored, two stolen bases and a .473 on-base percentage in 12 night games this season. 

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.

WILSON NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was named to 2021 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list, which honors the nation's top collegiate hitter, earlier this season. He was one of 48 student-athletes named to the watch list, and the lone Sun Belt Conference representative.
