 All-Time Series
South Alabama holds a 65-38 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that dates back to 1967. The Jaguars have won four straight in the series, dating back to 2019, after defeating the Golden Eagles in the first two meetings this season at Stanky Field on Feb. 23 and March 16. USA is 26-21 all-time in Hattiesburg, Miss., and 13-8 against USM under head coach Mark Calvi.

JAGS LEAD NATION IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama enters the week as the nation's leader in sacrifice bunts with 31. Kaleb DeLaTorre is tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead and ranks tied for 11th nationally with six sacrifice bunts this year.

JAGUAR PITCHING STAFF IN SBC RANKINGS
The Jaguar pitching staff enters the week as the Sun Belt leader in fewest hits (231) and fewest home runs allowed (19), second in opposing batting average (.223), runs allowed (142) and earned runs allowed (115), and third in ERA (4.00) and strikeouts (285)

OFFENSIVE WOES
South Alabama ranks last in the SBC in batting average (.224) and hits (210) entering Tuesday's contest. The Jags have recorded 10 or more hits in six games this season, and have scored 10 or more runs once this year (3/28 at Northwestern State).

JAG DEFENSE ROLLING
The Jags have not committed an error in two straight games entering Tuesday's contest, and have been charged with just one error in their last seven games, dating back to March 30 at LSU, which came in last weekend's series opener at Little Rock. USA is fielding .996 with six double plays during that span. 

TWO-OUT RBIs
South Alabama has recorded 57 two-out RBIs this season, which accounts for 43 percent of its 134 total RBIs. Hunter Stokes and Santi Montiel share the team lead with leads the team with 10 RBIs apiece with two outs.

SANDLE, WILSON VERSUS SOUTHERN MISS
In six career games versus Southern Miss, Jaguar center fielder Michael Sandle is batting .320 with one double, one home run, four RBIs, six runs scored and one stolen base. Ethan Wilson is batting .313 with two doubles, one home run, four RBIs, five runs scored, one stolen base and a .450 on-base percentage in four career games against the Golden Eagles.

JAGS WHEN OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 10-0 when outhitting the opposition this season, 3-9 when getting outhit and 3-4 when hits are tied.

ALLOWING FIVE OR LESS
South Alabama is 15-4 this season when allowing five runs or less, but is 1-9 when opponents score six or more. 

WILSON IN ROAD GAMES
Ethan Wilson is batting a team-best .302 with four doubles, one triple, three home runs, eight RBIs, nine runs scored, two stolen bases and a .464 on-base percentage in 15 road games this season. 

SMITH, PEREZ AT NIGHT
Jaguar right-hander Miles Smith is 1-0 with one save and a 0.00 ERA in four appearances, including one start, in night games this season. Smith has recorded 10 strikeouts against three walks and combined for two shutouts in 14.0 innings pitched at night. Right-hander Tyler Perez has posted a 2.00 ERA in four appearances in night games, and struck out 10 batters without issuing a walk in nine total innings in those contests.

RUNS ALLOWED OVER FINAL THREE INNINGS
South Alabama has allowed 58 total runs in the final three innings, excluding extra-inning contests of games this season, while allowing 80 total runs in the first six innings of games. USA has allowed four runs in extra innings this season, and is 2-2 in extra-inning contests.

WILSON IN NIGHT GAMES
Ethan Wilson is batting a team-best .341 with four doubles, two triples, one home run, 12 RBIs, six runs scored, one stolen base and a .471 on-base percentage in 11 night games this season. 

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

POWERS NAMED TO BUSTER POSEY AWARD WATCH LIST
Jaguar catcher Reid Powers was named to the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List on March 9. The award is given annually to the nation's top Division I catcher by The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. Semifinalists will be announced May 20, and finalists on June 7 with the winner to be named on a date that has not yet been determined.

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.

WILSON NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was named to 2021 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list, which honors the nation's top collegiate hitter, earlier this season. He was one of 48 student-athletes named to the watch list, and the lone Sun Belt Conference representative.
