 All-Time Series
South Alabama owns a 48-42 all-time lead over Troy in a series that began in 1965. The Trojans have won the last two series dating back to 2018. USA's last series win over Troy came in 2017 at Stanky Field when the Jags took two of three games. Troy enters Friday's series opener having won two straight in the series, which came in 2019. USA is 15-17 all-time against Troy under head coach Mark Calvi. 

JAGS IN TOP 3 NATIONALLY IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama enters the series ranked tied for third nationally and tied for first in the Sun Belt Conference in sacrifice bunts with 22. Kaleb DeLaTorre, Santi Montiel, Reid Powers and Hunter Stokes are tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference lead and tied for 22nd nationally with four sacrifice bunts each.

WILSON DURING ON-BASE STREAK
During his current 13-game on-base streak, dating back to the March 7 contest with Middle Tennessee, Ethan Wilson is batting .408 (20-for-49) with six doubles, one triple, five home runs, 13 RBIs, 10 runs scored, two stolen bases, an .878 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. He has hit safely in 11 of 13 contests, including six multiple-hit games, and driven in runs in seven of 13 games, with six multi-RBI performances. Wilson homered three times in last weekend's three-game series at Northwestern State, including two in Sunday's series finale.

JAGUAR PITCHING STAFF IN SBC RANKINGS
The Jaguar pitching staff enters the weekend ranked second in the Sun Belt in ERA (3.99), opposing batting average (.230) and fewest hits allowed (178), tied for second in fewest home runs allowed (16), third in saves (7) and tied for fourth in strikeouts (217).

TWO-OUT RBIs
South Alabama has recorded 44 two-out RBIs this season, which accounts for 43 percent of its 101 total RBIs. Hunter Stokes leads the team with nine RBIs with two outs, followed by Ethan Wilson with seven.

JAGS WHEN OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 8-0 when outhitting the opposition this season, 3-6 when getting outhit and 2-4 when hits are tied.

LEE IN SBC RANKINGS
Jaguar right-hander Jeremy Lee enters this weekend's start ranked third in the Sun Belt in strikeouts (40), tied for third in fewest walks allowed (5) and tied for eighth in ERA (3.30).

SANFORD MAKES FIRST CAREER START, HOMERS TWICE
Jaguar freshman Carter Sanford earned his first career start in Sunday's series finale at Northwestern State as designated hitter. Sanford hit a solo home run in his second at-bat of the game, which marked his first career hit, and then delivered a three-run home run in his next at-bat to cap his day.

STOKES JOINS 100-HIT CLUB
Second baseman Hunter Stokes recorded his 100th career hit in Sunday's series finale at Northwestern State. 

ALLOWING FIVE OR LESS
South Alabama is 12-3 this season when allowing five runs or less, but is 1-7 when opponents score six or more. 

RUNS ALLOWED OVER FINAL THREE INNINGS
South Alabama has allowed 48 total runs in the final three innings, excluding extra-inning contests of games this season, while allowing 67 total runs in the first six innings of games.

JAGUAR BULLPEN
South Alabama relief pitchers have combined for eight wins, seven saves, a 3.75 ERA, 96 strikeouts and 39 walks in 86 1/3 total innings. Left-hander Tyler Samaniego leads the team in saves (4), which ranks third in the SBC.

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

POWERS NAMED TO BUSTER POSEY AWARD WATCH LIST
Jaguar catcher Reid Powers was named to the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List on March 9. The award is given annually to the nation's top Division I catcher by The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. Semifinalists will be announced May 20, and finalists on June 7 with the winner to be named on a date that has not yet been determined.

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.

WILSON NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was named to 2021 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list, which honors the nation's top collegiate hitter, earlier this season. He was one of 48 student-athletes named to the watch list, and the lone Sun Belt Conference representative.
