 All-Time Series
South Alabama owns a 25-18 all-time lead over LSU in a series that dates back to 1971. The Tigers have won three straight in the series dating back to 2018, including a 4-1 win last year in Baton Rouge, which marked South Alabama's final game of the season before having the remainder of the 2020 scheduled canceled due to Covid-19. USA's last win over LSU came in 2017 when the Jags defeated the Tigers, who were ranked 10th nationally at the time, 7-6 at Alex Box Stadium. South Alabama is 1-4 all-time against LSU under head coach Mark Calvi.


JAGS IN TOP 3 NATIONALLY IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama enters the week ranked tied for third nationally and tied for first in the Sun Belt Conference in sacrifice bunts with 22. Kaleb DeLaTorre, Santi Montiel, Reid Powers and Hunter Stokes are tied for second in the Sun Belt Conference lead and tied for 22nd nationally with four sacrifice bunts each.

WILSON IN LAST 12 GAMES
In his last 12 games, dating back to the March 7 contest with Middle Tennessee, Ethan Wilson is batting .413 (19-for-46) with six doubles, five home runs, 12 RBIs, 10 runs scored, two stolen bases, an .870 slugging percentage and .500 on-base percentage. He has hit safely in 10 of 12 contests, including six multiple-hit games, and drove in runs in six of 12 games, all of which were multi-RBI performances. Wilson homered three times in last weekend's three-game series at Northwestern State, including two in Sunday's series finale.

USA DURING CURRENT WIN STREAK
South Alabama enters the game with a season-best five-game win streak dating back to March 20 at UT Arlington. The Jags are batting .229 with six doubles, one triple, eight home runs, 34 RBIs and 38 runs scored during that stretch, while the USA pitching staff has posted a 3.40 ERA with 37 strikeouts against 22 walks in 45 innings pitched. Defensively, South Alabama has committed three errors during its win streak for a fielding percentage of .984.

JAGUAR PITCHING STAFF IN SBC RANKINGS
The Jaguar pitching staff leads the Sun Belt Conference in earned runs allowed (81), ERA (3.66) and fewest home runs allowed (14), ranks second in opposing batting average (.228), third in hits allowed (169) and fourth in strikeouts (210).

TWO-OUT RBIs
South Alabama has recorded 43 two-out RBIs this season, which accounts for 43 percent of its 101 total RBIs. Hunter Stokes leads the team with nine RBIs with two outs, followed by Ethan Wilson and Caleb Balgaard with six each.

JAGS WHEN OUTHITTING THE OPPOSITION
South Alabama is 8-0 when outhitting the opposition this season, 3-5 when getting outhit and 2-4 when hits are tied.

SANFORD MAKES FIRST CAREER START, HOMERS TWICE
Jaguar freshman Carter Sanford earned his first career start in Sunday's series finale at Northwestern State as designated hitter. Sanford hit a solo home run in his second at-bat of the game, which marked his first career hit, and then delivered a three-run home run in his next at-bat to cap his day.

HITTING, ON-BASE STREAKS
Catcher Reid Powers carries a team-best four-game hit streak into Tuesday's contest. Ethan Wilson enters the week with a 12-game on-base streak, while Michael Sandle carries a nine-game on-base streak into Tuesday's game.

LEHRMANN IN SBC RANKINGS
Jaguar left-hander Tyler Lehrmann ranks fourth in the SBC in opposing batting average (.183), and 12th in ERA (3.71). Tuesday's game will mark his first midweek start this season after making four consecutive weekend starts.

ARGUELLES CAREER VS LSU
Jaguar left-hander Andy Arguelles is 1-1 with a 0.87 ERA in three career relief appearances against LSU. Arguelles has allowed one run and eight hits with 11 strikeouts and one walk while limiting the Tigers to a .205 batting average in 10 1/3 innings pitched.

STOKES JOINS 100-HIT CLUB
Second baseman Hunter Stokes recorded his 100th career hit in Sunday's series finale at Northwestern State. 

ALLOWING FIVE OR LESS
South Alabama is 12-3 this season when allowing five runs or less, but is 1-6 when opponents score six or more.

South Alabama has allowed 46 total runs in the final three innings, excluding extra-inning contests of games this season, while allowing 58 total runs in the first six innings of games.

JAGUAR BULLPEN
South Alabama relief pitchers have combined for eight wins, seven saves, a 3.49 ERA, 90 strikeouts and 36 walks in 80 total innings. Left-hander Tyler Samaniego leads the team in saves (4), which ranks third in the Sun Belt Conference.

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

POWERS NAMED TO BUSTER POSEY AWARD WATCH LIST
Jaguar catcher Reid Powers was named to the 2021 Buster Posey National Collegiate Catcher of the Year Watch List on March 9. The award is given annually to the nation's top Division I catcher by The Greater Wichita Area Sports Commission. Semifinalists will be announced May 20, and finalists on June 7 with the winner to be named on a date that has not yet been determined.

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.

WILSON NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was named to 2021 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list, which honors the nation's top collegiate hitter, earlier this season. He was one of 48 student-athletes named to the watch list, and the lone Sun Belt Conference representative.
