3/16/2021 10:04:00 AM

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – University of South Alabama guard Michael Flowers added to his list of postseason honors Tuesday when the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) announced Tuesday that the senior is a first-team all-district selection.

It's the latest award for the Southfield, Mich., resident, who was selected the Sun Belt Conference Newcomer of the Year, first-team all-league and to the SBC all-tournament team last week.

In his first season with the program, Flowers averaged 21 points, 4.6 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 1.6 steals per game while shooting 38.8 percent from three-point range and 81.8 percent at the foul line.  In addition to leading the conference in scoring, three-point field goals and free throws made, he stands third in three-point field-goal percentage and fourth in free-throw percentage while ranking seventh in assists and 10th in steals per contest.

Flowers posted a double-figure point total in 26 of South's 28 outings, recording 20 points 14 times including four efforts with 30-plus points.  That included scoring 29 of his game- and season-high 34 points in the second half as the Jaguars defeated ULM 80-72 in the first round of the Sun Belt Tournament after recording 32 points the previous weekend as USA concluded the regular season against Georgia State.

Flowers and the Jags finished 17-11 overall this year after posting an eight-game win streak in Sun Belt action.
