South Alabama holds a 64-37 all-time lead over Southern Miss in a series that dates back to 1967. The Jags have won two straight in the series after a 15-4 win in Hattiesburg and a 4-1 win at Stanky Field in 2019. USA has won three of the last four meetings dating back to 2018, which marked the Golden Eagles' last win over the Jags. South Alabama is 11-8 all-time against Southern Miss under head coach Mark Calvi. 

WILSON NAMED PRESEASON SBC PLAYER OF THE YEAR, ALL-AMERICA
Ethan Wilson was named the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Preseason Player of the Year, marking the second straight season he was voted the league's top player in preseason voting. Wilson was also named Baseball America First-Team Preseason All-America, and Third-Team Preseason All-America by D1Baseball.

77 AND COUNTING
Shortsop Santi Montiel has started in 77 consecutive games - every game since joining the program. He started all 56 games in 2019, in addition to all 18 games last season, and has started each game this year.

DELATORRE, WILSON CONSECUTIVE STARTS STREAKS END
Both Kaleb DeLaTorre and Ethan Wilson each had a 74-game consecutive starts streak snapped after neither started in the season opener against Southeast Missouri. 

WILSON NAMED TO GOLDEN SPIKES AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was selected to the 2021 USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Preseason Watch List, marking the second straight season he has been named to the list. 

WILSON NAMED TO BOBBY BRAGAN COLLEGIATE SLUGGER AWARD WATCH LIST
Ethan Wilson was named to 2021 Bobby Bragan Collegiate Slugger Award watch list, which honors the nation's top collegiate hitter. Wilson was one of 48 student-athletes named to the watch list, and the lone Sun Belt Conference representative. The winner of the BBCSA will be announced in June at the Fort Worth Club in Fort Worth, Texas.

JAGS PICKED SECOND IN SUN BELT EAST DIVISION
The Jaguars were picked to finish second in the Sun Belt Conference East Division in a preseason poll voted on by the league's coaches. USA earned one first-place vote behind Coastal Carolina, who was picked to win the division with 10 first-place votes.

JAGS TIED FOR NATIONAL LEAD IN SACRIFICE BUNTS
South Alabama is tied with Loyola-Marymount for the national lead in sacrifice bunts with seven entering the week. 

MONTIEL TIED FOR NATIONAL LEAGUE IN WALKS, WALKS PER GAME
Santi Montiel enters the game tied for the national lead in walks (6), which also leads the Sun Belt Conference, and walks per game (2.00).

DELATORRE, POWERS LEAD LEAGUE IN SAC BUNTS
Kaleb DeLaTorre and Reid Powers are tied for the Sun Belt Conference lead in sacrifice bunts with two. Each is tied for fifth nationally in the category entering Tuesday's contest.

TWO-OUT RBIs
South Alabama has recorded six two-out RBIs so far this season, which accounts for exactly half of its 12 total RBIs. Hunter Stokes leads the team with three RBIs with two outs.
