MOBILE, Ala. – University of South Alabama women's golf head coach Matt Luther announced Wednesday the addition of three student-athletes who signed National Letters of Intent for the 2022-23 season.
Catharina Lohoff – 5-10 – Kath. Marienschule Potsdam – Gymnasium – Berlin, Germany
Earned a bronze medal at the 2019 Youth for Olympic Games in golf … Also competed in high jump in track where she set the school record … Played 12 years of club golf for Golf- und Land-Club Berlin-Wannsee … Captured a German Golf League gold medal in 2020 & '21.
Greta Rietdorf – 5-6 – Albert Einstein Gymnasium – Kaarst, Germany
Played three years at Dusseldorter Golf Club … 2020-21 club champion … Helped capture the North Rhine Westphalia Girls U18 team championship in 2021.
Laura Burch – 5-8 – McGill-Toolen Catholic High School – Mobile, Ala.
Lettered in golf six years, played volleyball for four years and two years of basketball … Helped lead the Yellow Jackets to a 2021 Alabama High School Athletic Association Class 6A state championship, where she also earned medalist honors with a 1-over par total of 109 after the event was shortened due to inclement weather … Also helped the volleyball program earn state runner-up finishes in 2019 and '21.
"It is a talented group that definitely has big shoes to fill, but I think they can do it," Luther said. "We have international experience and a local state champion. There is a lot of power coming in, so hopefully this crew can keep our program moving on the upward trajectory that it has been on."
