THEY SAID IT
Head Coach Nick Brochu
- On the Birmingham Collegiate Invitational: "Birmingham is our last tournament of the fall. So, of course, our guys want to finish on a good note. We had a good regional tournament and our guys competed really well. It's been a rough fall season. We took a little bit of a break after the regional. So, our guys are well rested and ready to go. The last tournament is also fun because we get to play on clay. It's a different setting being on clay and we are going to be at a country club and not a school. It's a different setting and a different atmosphere but we are going to be competitive. We are taking all six players and trying some new double pairs, which will be interesting. This is what the fall is all about, trying different pairs, who has the right chemistry and who gels the most to get the best results. We're trying different pairs right now and will do that this weekend. On the team, we have guys who grew up [playing] on clay, especially our European players. So, they are excited to play on that surface. It's going to be fun and we are going to have a good week of training. We are focusing on more rallies and being more patient. Because on clay courts, points are a little longer and more physical. The guys are training hard and are looking forward to going back to Birmingham."
