SOUTH TRACK AND FIELD SET TO COMPETE IN BIRMINGHAM AND JONESBORO

MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama track & field team will compete at two meets this Sunday. Eight student-athletes will enter the KMS Open meet, starting with the men's weight throw at 8 a.m. while 18 Jaguars will head to Jonesboro, Ark., for the Scarlett and Black Invitational beginning at 10 a.m. with the men's weight throw event.

NOTES
- Ariel Atias broke the school heptathlon record after scoring 5,172 at the Samford Multis on Jan. 22. Atias also earned top-three finishes in four of the seven heptathlon events.
- Francois Prinsloo captured his first victory of the season with a 16.42m mark in the weight throw at the Blazer Invite on Jan. 15.
- Dimitrios Manesiotis placed third in the weight throw with a 13.46m distance and in the shot put with a 14.29m mark at the Blazer Invite.
- Josie Pry recorded an 8.95s mark in the 60m hurdles preliminaries at the Blazer Invite, which is the 10th-best time in program history.
- Bodine Umberi finished third in the shot put (13.25m) and the weight throw (15.58m) at the Blazer Invite.
- Two Jaguars recorded new personal bests at the opening meet of the season: Kiara Risher (high jump) and Josh Norris (60m).

- On Sunday's meets: "We are taking some athletes in certain events to the KMS Open and the Scarlett and Black Invitational. Some of them did not have an opportunity to compete at UAB's meet, so they are excited about the opportunity."
