MOBILE, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced Thursday afternoon that their league would go to a 10-game, conference-only schedule this fall. Below is a statement released by University of South Alabama Director of Athletics Joel Erdmann following today's announcement by the SEC.

"We are aware of the decision announced by the Southeastern Conference today, we're disappointed that our coaches and student-athletes won't have the opportunity to play the University of Florida in The Swamp this fall. We are in constant communication with the Sun Belt Conference office and our fellow league members as we evaluate all options to play football this fall."

South Alabama was originally scheduled to travel to Gainesville, Fla., to take on Florida on Saturday, Sept. 19, but with the announcement that game will now not be played.
