NEW ORLEANS – The Sun Belt Conference announced indoor track and field all-conference teams Thursday afternoon. Among those honored were 14 University of South Alabama student-athletes for their performances at the 2020 Sun Belt Indoor Championships.

Christian Ellis (triple jump), Autavia Fluker (shot put), Noah Mumme (pole vault) and Rickssen Opont (shot put) earned First-Team All-Sun Belt honors after winning their respective events. Emilie Berge (pentathlon) and Carolien Millenaar (3000m & 5000m) took home Second-Team All-Sun Belt accolades, while eight individuals claimed third-team honors: Connor Allred (pole vault), Harry Barthelemy (high jump), Silje Lindstad (mile), Hanna-Mai Vaikla (pentathlon) and the women's distance medley relay team consisting of Cierra Hedrick, Shay Lee, Adele Magaud and Abbey Wietenbeck.

Ellis bested his program record that he established at last year's league championships by jumping 15.73 meters in the triple jump. His mark was the best in the league all year.

Fluker defended her title in the shot put by winning the Sun Belt title for the second straight year throwing 15.34 meters. She also placed third in the weight throw with a personal best of 18.83 meters. Overall, scoring 18 points tied for the most on the women's side.

Mumme improved on his third-place finish from last year's league championship by winning his first Sun Belt title in the pole vault. He jumped a career best 5.11 meters at the championships which was the fourth best mark in program history.

Opont also won his first career Sun Belt title by winning the shot put (16.47m), and placed sixth in the weight throw with a career-best mark of 17.57 meters. He ended up with 13 points to lead the men's team.

Berge collected 4,021 points over the five events of the pentathlon to earn a second-place finish, and earned all-conference recognition for the second year in a row.

Millenaar rewrote the Jaguar record books on her way to two second-place finishes at the 2020 Indoor league championships. She established a new program record in the 5000-meter run. Her time of 16:50.52 was over eight seconds faster than the previous record holder. In addition, she set a new personal record, of 9:44.40, and the program's second-fastest time in the 3000-meter run on her way to a second-place finish. Her two second-place finishes earned 16 points to tie for the most on the women's team.

Allred jumped a career-best 4.91-meters to collect third-team honors, which marked the first postseason honors of his career. The vault moved him into eighth all-time in South Alabama program history.

Barthelemy broke the program's high jump record with his jump of 2.08 meters en route to a third-place finish. Also, in his first ever meet triple jumping, he placed seventh with a mark of 14.95 meters, which currently ranks fifth in South Alabama history.

Lindstad earned a third-place finish in the mile (5:02.35) after setting a personal best time of 4:58.71 that ranks sixth all-time in the Jaguar record books.

Vaikla set three personal bests (shot put, high jump & 60mH) on her way to establishing a new personal record of 3,792 points in the pentathlon. The mark was good enough for a third-place finish and third all-time in program history.

The Jaguars open their outdoor season Fri., March 6, at Jaguar Track. Competition is set to begin at 2 p.m. with the women's hammer, with running scheduled for 5 p.m. beginning with the women's 100-meter hurdles.
