SCOUTING THE JAGUARSÂ Â Â
– South Alabama (4-12) enters the Madiera Beach tournament after falling at Nicholls State, 4-3 in 16 innings Tuesday night.
– The 16-inning game that lasted nearly four-and-a-half hours set a new program mark for longest in program history, passing the previous record of 13 innings set at Texas State during the 2018 season.
– After both teams scored a run in their half of the fourth inning, neither team was able to cross home plate until the game winner in the 16th.
– Jenna Hardy (2-5) went the distance tossing all of the 15-plus innings in the circle and threw well over 200 pitches.
– The freshman right hander set single-game records for innings pitched and total pitches against the Colonels and allowed just two earned runs in the contest.
– The loss was the seventh-straight for the club, which marked the first time in program history that a Jaguar team has lost that many consecutive games.
– Katelyn Gruich (.326) continued her power surge as she homered for the third time in four games. Her first-inning solo home run was her fourth of the season and the 18th of her career.
– The 18 career home runs by Gruich are tied with Jenny Stevens for sixth-most in program history.
– Gruich did it defensively for South in the loss as she recorded a single-game record 14 assists, twice as many as the previous mark, while Kamdyn Kvistad (.245) also set a program mark with 21 putouts.
– Gruich also leads the team with 11 RBI and eight of her 15 hits have gone for extra bases, while Kvistad is right behind her with 10 runs driven in.
– Outfielders Amanda Flynn and Mackenzie Brasher are also hitting over .300 this spring. Flynn enters the weekend at a .349 clip, while Brasher is hitting .333.
SCOUTING THE PIRATESÂ Â Â
– Seton Hall (4-9) enters the weekend after losing three of four, including two to Sun Belt member and tournament host Coastal Carolina, last weekend at the Chanticleer Showdown in Conway, S.C.
– Abby Wingo leads the Pirates offensively with a .375 batting average. Her 15 hits also pace the club, while her seven runs driven in are third-most.
– Payton Beaver (.308) has four doubles, a home run and six RBI.
– Baylee Allender (.262) has recorded four of the team's nine home runs this spring.
– Shelby Smith is 2-0 this season in the circle, while Reganne Camp has recorded 23 strikeouts in her 23.2 innings of work.

– Middle Tennessee (7-10) comes into THE Spring Games event after going 2-3 this past weekend at the Mardi Gras Mambo held in Youngsville, La.
– The Blue Raiders and the Jaguars have faced a pair of common opponents defeating Nicholls State twice and falling 8-0 in six innings to McNeese State.
– MTSU already has 34 extra-base hits, including 15 doubles and 17 home runs.
– Kelci Hill is hitting .407 and leads the team with 22 hits.
– Lexi Cushing (.383) and Jocelynn De La Cruz (.268) each have five home runs on the spring, while De La Cruz leads the team with 13 RBI. Cushing has driven in nine runs.
– The Blue Raider pitching staff has given up 19 home runs and holds a 4.31 earned run average.
THE SERIES VS. MIDDLE TENNESSEEÂ Â Â
– South Alabama and Middle Tennessee have met 24 other times in the all-time series with the Jags holding a 16-8 advantage.
– South has won the last nine meetings in the series with four of those being run-rule contests and two others decided by eight runs. The three other games during that stretch have been one-run decisions.
– All but one of those previous meetings have come either during Sun Belt Conference regular season or tournament play.

SCOUTING THE HAWKEYESÂ Â Â
– Iowa (12-2) enters the tournament having won six straight, including a 5-0 showing over the weekend at the 2020 Hawaii Invitational.
– Five players in the Hawkeye lineup are batting over .300 led by Nia Carter's .567 average. Carter has 17 hits in her 30 at-bats.
– Hayvn Monteer (.412) and Kit Rocco (.400) have also been solid at the plate. Rocco's nine RBI are second-most on the roster.
– Kalena Burns (.326) has hit three home runs and driven in 10 runs.
– Lauren Shaw (7-1) and Allison Doocy (5-1) lead Iowa in the circle. Shaw holds a 1.46 ERA and is averaging nearly a strikeout per inning.
– Doocy has been just as solid with a 1.76 ERA. She has also struck out 70 batters in 43.2 innings of work. Opponents are batting .186 versus the senior righty.

– The meeting between South Alabama and Iowa will be the first in the all-time series between the two programs.
SOUTH AGAINST THE BIG 10Â Â Â
– South Alabama holds an all-time record of 7-7 (.500) against current Big 10 Conference members.
– South has already faced a pair of Big 10 opponents this spring, falling to Minnesota (10-0) and to Illinois (5-4) during the opening weekend of the season at the NFCA Division I Leadoff Classic in Clearwater, Fla.

– Florida Atlantic (4-8) enters THE Spring Games tournament after dropping two of three last weekend at the FAU "Strikeout Cancer" tournaments, its second home tournament of the spring.
– Senior catcher Kaitlyn Burke leads the team with a .394 batting average.
– Burke also leads the team in hits (13), doubles (3) and RBI (8).
– Rachel Tarply is hitting .313 for the Owls.
– As a staff, FAU holds a 4.18 earned run average. Of the 79 runs allowed by the staff, only 49 have been earned.
THE SERIES VS. FLORIDA ATLANTICÂ Â Â
– South Alabama and Florida Atlantic have met 24 other times in the all-time series with the Owls holding a 15-9 advantage.
– The Jags have won the last four meetings and seven of the last nine in the series.
– The two teams have met on a neutral field three times in the series with FAU taking all three of those meetings, all of which came at the Sun Belt Conference Championships.
