MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama women's golf team will open compete in the Reynolds Lake Oconee Invitational at The Landing Course at Reynolds Lake Oconee Feb. 21-23.
The three-day, 54-hole event will be played at 6,134 yards and par of 72. South Alabama will compete tournament host Mercer, Albany, Auburn, Chattanooga, Daytona State, Delaware, East Carolina, East Tennessee State, North Florida, Rutgers, South Dakota State, UNC-Asheville, UNC-Wilmington and Wofford for the tournament title. The first two rounds will begin with assigned tee times, while Sunday's final round will begin with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. (CT).
The Jaguar lineup will feature Julie Hovland, Siti Shaari, Belinda May, Caroline Berge and Nele Mattner, while Carlota Garcia will play individually.
South Alabama opened the spring portion of its schedule at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Intercollegiate at English Turn Golf & Country Club in New Orleans. The Jags finished 12th out of 15 teams with a three-round team score of 911, posting a 306 in round one, 300 in the second round and 305 in round three.
Shaari recorded a 5-over par 224 over three rounds to finish tied for 32nd at the Allstate Sugar Bowl Invitational, marking the first tournament this season she has not earned a top-five finish. It was also the first tournament of the year she has not finished a round under par.
Mattner posted her lowest three-round total of the year at 232. She recorded her lowest round of the season in round two with a 2-over par 75, and matched that total in the final round on Tuesday.
Shaari led the Jaguars with 12 birdies in three rounds at the Allstate Sugar Bowl, followed by freshman Belinda May who carded nine birdies over three rounds.
