MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's and women's track and field programs will travel to Birmingham, Ala. to compete in the Bulldog Invitational Friday. The meet comes after the team's first week off since the beginning of the indoor season on Jan. 17. The competition marks the last regular season meet of the 2020 indoor season for the Jags.Â

- This will be the third out of four trips to the Birmingham CrossPlex for the Jaguars this season.Â
- The Sun Belt named Rickssen Opont the Men's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 27 to Feb. 2. This was the first time this season, and of his career, the graduate transfer was named the Sun Belt Conference athlete of the week. Opont threw a program record 17.35m in the shot put at the Jaguar Invitational, the mark broke the National Indoor Haitian shot put record as well.
- Two Jaguars currently hold the top marks in the Sun Belt conference in their respective events: Christian Ellis (triple jump, 15.44m), and Opont (shot put, 17.35m).
- Five South Alabama student-athletes earned individual victories at the Jaguar Invitational: Emilie Berge (long jump), Ellis (triple jump), Autavia Fluker (shot put), Carolien Millenaar (5000m), and Noah Mumme (pole vault).Â
- USA has 49 student-athletes, 27 men and 22 women, slated to compete this Friday in the Bulldog Invitational.
- Competition is set to begin at 9 a.m. with the women's weight throw. Running events are scheduled to start at 12 p.m. with the women's 60m prelims. Â
