MOBILE, Ala. – The University of South Alabama men's tennis team head coach Nick Brochu announced the signing Friday of Jack Clements for the 2021-22 season.
"We are very excited to welcome Jack to the Jaguar family," said Brochu. "Jack will be a JUCO transfer, and he will be coming in with two years of experience playing collegiate tennis. Because of COVID, he has three years of eligibility with us, so that is great. Jack has a massive serve, which is probably the best part of his game. He has an aggressive game at the baseline, and he is extremely hard to break. With the aid of his Australian background, he has learned to come forward because they play on lots of grass courts over there. He is very comfortable coming in, and he has great touch all around the court."
Clements, from Inverloch, Australia, is a transfer from Cowley (Kan.) C.C. While competing for the Tigers, he was undefeated at No. 1 singles during the 2019 spring semester and ranked as high as second in the nation in singles that year.
"He is going to be able to come in right away and be one of our top players in the lineup, so we are looking to him to potentially become a leader for this team for the next two or three years," stated Brochu. "We are very fortunate to have him. He was ranked as high as number two in the nation last year in junior college. He is a big recruit, and we are extremely happy to welcome him to South Alabama."
