Opening Kick
• USA makes its first-ever trip to Conway to take on Sun Belt Conference East Division leader Coastal Carolina.
• It's just the Jaguars' second journey to the Palmetto State, having visited South Carolina on Nov. 22, 2014.
• This will be the third time since the beginning of last season that the Jags will take on a nationally-ranked opponent.
• South has dropped it's last three decisions against top-25 foes since defeating then-No. 19 San Diego State, 42-24, in Mobile on Oct. 1, 2016.
• The Jaguars are looking for their first-ever win over a ranked opponent on the road.  USA's previous results against top 25 teams away from home are:
  - L, 10-30 at #23 Mississippi State, 9/22/12
  - L, 21-35 at #24 Nebraska, 8/31/19

Notes From The Last Coastal Carolina Meeting
• It was the only time during the 2018 season that the Jags finished with more than 500 yards of total offense.
• South's rushing total was its most at the time against a conference opponent, and still ranks sixth overall on the program's game record list.
• It also was the lone occasion that season that the Jag defense allowed less than 100 yards on the ground against an SBC foe.
• Tra Minter set a school game record for rushing yards to be named the Sun Belt Offensive Player of the Week.
• Jamarius Way ended his Jaguar career by setting a new school standard for touchdown receptions in a contest (which stood until Senior Day last fall when Jalen Tolbert caught four), also becoming the third individual in program history to post 1,500 receiving yards in a career.
• Kawaan Baker's touchdown run at the end of the opening half was his 13th score of the year, tying a school season record first set during the program's inaugural campaign in 2009.

Notes On Campbell's Coaching/Playing Career
• Campbell's 167-75 mark as a head coach includes going 33-15 over four years at Central Arkansas from 2014-17, where he guided the Bears to back-to-back NCAA Football Championship Subdivision playoff appearances before taking over at South Alabama.
• He has led two programs to national championships — Delta (Miss.) State in 2000 at the NCAA Division II level and Mississippi Gulf Coast C.C. to the 2007 National Junior College Athletic Association crown.
• In 20 seasons no team coached by Campbell finished below .500 prior to the 2018 campaign.
• Campbell has coached on the staffs of Pat Dye (Auburn graduate assistant, 1988-89) and Jackie Sherrill (Mississippi State assistant, 2003).
• Campbell and Jaguar coordinators Kenny Edenfield and Greg Stewart were teammates on Troy's 1987 NCAA Division II national championship squad.

Gallmon Has Big Game At Georgia Southern
S Keith Gallmon led all players with nine total stops last time out at Georgia Southern, adding a forced fumble and an interception as he paced the team in tackles for the second straight contest for the first time in his career.  The junior's forced fumble in the opening quarter was his first since recording one against the Eagles in last year's match-up in Mobile on Oct. 3 while his interception — which came in the third period — was his first since picking off a pass last season on Sept. 14 against Memphis.  His efforts helped the Jag defense limit Georgia Southern to 345 yards of total offense on the night, the fewest allowed by the unit this fall.

A Top-10 Performance From Trotter
Desmond Trotter was 20-of-27 passing for 200 yards and two scores in the match-up with the Eagles, and with the performance moved into the top 10 in three different statistical categories in South's season and career record books.  After throwing for multiple scores in consecutive contests for the first time this season, the sophomore now stands eighth on the season record list with eight this fall while also moving into 10th place all-time accounting for 17 touchdowns.  With 2,038 yards of total offense since the beginning of last season, Trotter now also ranks 10th in the category on the career record list, and he also climbed into the top five with 16 touchdown passes during that stretch.

Cole Calling
Senior Riley Cole was one tackle shy of equaling Gallmon for game-high honors, posting eight including one behind the line of scrimmage early in the fourth quarter.  It was the fourth straight outing that the linebacker has made at least one stop for loss — matching a streak he recorded from Oct. 26-Nov. 23 last year — as he ended the night by moving into the top 10 all-time in tackles at South having recorded 175 since the beginning of the 2016 campaign.

Closing In On A Career Record
That's what Kawaan Baker is doing after hauling in five receptions for a game-best 65 yards against the Eagles, as the senior wide receiver moved past the duo of Jamarius Way and Jeremé Jones into second place on the school's all-time receiving yards list after ending the contest with 1,678 in his career.  With a team-leading 706 all-purpose yards through the Jaguars' first six contests this year, he has already surpassed his total in the category from a season ago.

Touchdown Time For Tolbert
With his touchdown catch in the third quarter last time out — the 11th of his career — Tolbert moved into the top five on the school's all-time list in the category as well as into the top 10 in the record books for total touchdowns scored.  The junior led all players in the game with six receptions, as he has already set career season highs this fall with 32 catches for 524 yards in just six contests.

At a Loss
Gi'Narious Johnson made his first stop behind the line of scrimmage since the Jags' season-opening victory at Southern Miss on Sept. 3 in the match-up with the Eagles, while Devin Rockette supplied the first of his career in the fourth quarter to give South a final chance to tie the contest before time expired.  The former finished with a season-best and career-high-tying four tackles in the contest, with the latter adding three to matchi the highest total of his career set on four previous occasions including the win at USM.

Depend On Davis
RB Carlos Davis once again led the Jags on the ground in their game at Georgia Southern, posting 70 yards on 20 carries to go over the 500-yard mark for the year.  It's the first time in school history the same individual has paced the team in rushing in each of the first six games of a season, as with the effort the sophomore moved into ninth place all-time at South with 793 yards since the start of the 2018 campaign.

Time For Tight Ends
The pair of Brandon Crum and Trent Tyre caught two passes each against the Eagles, with the former scoring the first touchdown of his career on a three-yard reception to tie the game 10-10 late in the opening half.  It was the second time this season — and fourth in the last eight outings dating back to South's trip to Georgia State Nov. 23 a year ago — that Crum has recorded multiple catches while it was the first occasion that two Jags at the position have caught more than one pass in the same game since Maaseiah Francis and James Bynes turned the trick at Idaho on Nov. 26, 2016.
